Kind of old and I am sure you have gone through 9 or 10 bikes since this. :D

How has the SMAKN converter held up?
Does it have a constant parasitic drain on the battery or only when powering a device?

Well, not 9 or 10, but there's been a few. That S10 got replaced with a GSA about 2.5 yrs ago. I have not hard wired the Delorme to the GSA, the Delorme battery live is really good so I haven't bothered.

I ran it about six months without issue. They are really cheap, I figured I'd just replace it as needed. They are potted, so I think it would have ran forever unless vibration bothered it.

I bought an eastern beaver 3 circuit solution, they make a kit specific of the S10. I put the smakn ' delorme on a switched circuit. I suspect there would be some drain, even when not powering anything.

Hmm glad I'm not the only one with issues... mine shows powered but I constantly slowly lose power while it's on and in the cradle. Annoying as the damn thing is powered.

The issue on mine is loss of contact between the cradle and the unit. It will urn on then lose power and drain the battery. It beater to leave it in power saver mode and not bother with the cheap-ass charging cradle. I carry an aux battery since it won't do you much good if you have been out on the trail for days and have zero charge left on the unit.

Did anyone ever find an unpowered cradle that you use with a Ram Mount setup? I just want to carry it on my bars and use the internal battery, not worried about actual charging. I can't seem to find one that works anywhere. Weird that RAM offers like 6 different mounts for the older InReach but not the later one...?

I am trying to find a cradle (powered or non) for my DeLorme InReach Explorer. I have found some InReach cradles, but the ads have a caveat stating the cradle is for the Garmin InReach and NOT the DeLorme.

Can anyone confirm that my DeLorme will/will not work with the Garmin cradles?

If it's the inReach SE, should be same thing just renamed. Don't think it changed, just got rebranded.

I stalked the evil bay for months to score a couple of these things, and have yet to find a powered one, just the regular ones. I even did a search on the goog once i had the part numbers looking for retailers maybe still blowing some out from old stock with no luck (so i'll save you the time there).

I probably still have my old style powered mount if someone is interested in it. It’s modified so it has a USB plug on the end of the cord rather than the cigarette plug.

I now have a Garmin inReach due to the not charging issue mentioned above. Mine kept getting worse to the point that it wouldn’t even change with a USB cable plugged into it, then failed altogether.
