Yup, I don't think it's that broadly known or used outside of certain circles in New Greater America, and there are many derivation myths.

I must admit I'd never heard of it myself until I saw Getting Doug With High.

It gives me no pleasure to be what one might call 'the inconvenient patient'*

Neither does it give me pleasure to have my verbal or textual output (or general 'being') consist of staunch streamed wining & an apparent determinedness to produce 'canny' dissections of why 'X' solution won't work.

And it's neither satisfying nor rewarding for any persons interacting with me to realise there isn't an elastoplast solution to any aspect of the variant issues at hand (or my thoughts/feelings/reactions to them), so peeple naturally give up. And this is their right. Whoever wants a pain in their a$$?

Because I'm not without the inherent resource of ingenuity thru/ough lateral thinking, which makes it difficult for those interacting to come up with something I've not proactively attempted three times already, already.

But anyway, let the whining sound commence -
    • My competence & confidence are totally shot. I'm floored & offended by my inability to transact seemingly simple tasks like those thrown up by the recent move from 'The Place' to 'The Manner House'.
    • Age will be part of it. Rustiness another. But I used to run a £750k budget and now I'm fekked.
    • Actions & transactions produce a consequent wave of post-event stress reaction. A Hyper-Panic. Unreasoned anxiety.
    • My resources are depleted. The capacity to 'keep on' floats away, leaving me (as a lyric once said) 'Swimming Adrift'.
    • I dream of laying back to sink into the current beneath, carried downstream, seeing the passing sunlit banks thru/ough the lens of the deepening water.
    • ...
Still, at least I don't ride like Marc Marquez eh.

    * So, by patient I might mean patient, client, service user, claimant, thread poster, person or some other similar role or position.

It's a funny road, the main road down by here.

It's pretty featureless in itself, running from one nondescript cuntry town schithole to another. But it's the primary southern thoroughfare to the areas largest 'Destination Dealership', which lays between the two towns, with little competition aroundabouts. So at the weekend there's plenty of motosickle traffic making it's way into the village along the 'A' road beyond the trees by the stream down past the end of my garden there.

They come in most sorts. The razzing 125cc plate-riders baarp baarping their way just as fast as they can in 2nd gear (28mph?). The neatly spaced groups of dayglo clad Advanced Motorists each relatively placed in their respective command positions as per the book. The revvy sports bikers who just can't wait for the nearby outgoing edge of the village to let it rip out of the 30mph zone. The 'gangs' of potato-potato-potato-potato munchers, tassels flapping on their nipple-rings/bar-ends/mirrors/gloves/jackets/seats/indicators and/or ballbags*.

Being such an understanding kind of a$$hole I can see why it would seem to irritate the locals so. There's an LED speed advisory sign in the village but no speed cameras so some peeple do tend to ride the S bends thru/ough here as tho/ough they were the Maggots/Becketts/Chapel complex at Silverstone.

And because of the way this little side estate is laid out the sound from the main road bounces around some so it sounds like it's coming from all sides.

It's at this point in the dissective narration that I hear the bell ringing for the mobile fish & chip van that comes round here a couple of times a week, so I break off from writing this & go buy a sausage for the first time in years. Actually I bought 2. There were three in the hotbox above the fryer there and I asked the 'operative' if he could by any chance split a matching set and let me have just the two please, but he looked back at me blankly and replied 'Two sausages then'.

Obviously he's not quite the 'mobile food fun guy cheeky-chipper chip-van-man ready for some banter & a laff' type fellow that I'm used to from my long-passed past association with chip vans & the related world of chip vans; Their peeple; Thier 'ways'.

Things sure have changed in the world of moving greezy food, maaaaaan.

In the queue (me and, er, 'Tony') I met my downstairs neighbour Tony for the first time. He's Tony. That's Tony, he lives downstairs, next door, he told me three times. And each of those three times he called me Clive, tho/ough I corrected him repeatedly.

So Clive I'll be then. At least I'll have a good explanation of why I ignore him when he hollers at me in the street.

    So it goes...

Perhaps you really are a Clive and not a Daniel at all. Some people do seem to have the wrong name.

There's a couple of blokes I meet regularly at rallies. Their given names are Mick and Dave, they claim. Thing is, Mick looks very Dave-like and Dave looks like a Mick, so I am constantly being corrected - and probably thought of as permanently baffled (not a bad thing, now I think about it). Fortunately we Australians of the downtrodden, lower socio-economic class are permitted to call almost anybody "Mate" regardless of how long we've known them. It's a very convenient workaround but it would be so much easier for me it they just swapped names.

It was the one I was looking for, regarding the 'daughter colonies' of the Hutterites.

Adam Buxton* posts a Mr Eno interview which, pleasingly, doesn't stick to the rather standard "So, what was it like recording with 'X' musician?" format. In two parts at

Not familiar with Mr Twin. Don't dislike the form or product, just never got around to listening.

    Arf.

The following is neither fully reasoned or complete, but it's my thoughts on the matters in hand anyway.

'Rubbing Is Racing' they say, and plenty of other riders ran into one another in that race. It's not like we haven't seen examples in the past -

Whilst I can see how/why race direction (now separate from DORNA) ended up making a right hash of the grid, Miller & team made the right call so fekk the rest. But it's fair to add that on a previous similar occasion (I forget where/when) where weather intervened during the formation/sighting lap/grid/start process (and many riders took to the pit lane to swap bikes) there was something of a risky elbows-out free for all on the way off the 'pit lane start', so I can see why they might want to play it the way they did. Still, it was an 'injustice' for Miller, who surely deserves some well earned luck.

Jack Miller shows us how not to turn left at Le Mans -

In Argentina he* did the right thing for the conditions in qualifying to get the pole. He did the right thing on tyre selection for the grid. Why should he be subject to the mistakes of others? If they can't keep up with the game it's their fault, not his. And the head start he was given was, to my mind, not as great as the advantage he would have had if all the others had to start from pit lane as per the book.

    Moving on...

Marquez clearly shredded the 'stalled on the grid' protocols**, the details of which he must surely know, and if not then what's he doing out there? But being so much behind schedule/made to look dumb by the events preceding, I guess Race Direction may have just felt 'Flick the fekkin lights & we'll sort it later'. But they fudged the issue with a ride thru/ough. It may perhaps be the specific option the FIM book gives them, but it's not enough. What indeed is the sanction for 'deliberately delaying the start by other means'?

Agostini has been quoted as saying he felt Rossi made a little too much of the prang after the race, but I'd suggest Giacomo knows well enough that a racer will use all available tools in the box, and if destabilising Marquez in the Brane is part of the game then so be it. Plenty was made of Rossi 'applying Marcs brakes' a few years back (Aragon?) with a consequent penalty***. Is the variation of simply riding into the side of your opponent so as to use them as a brake somehow ok?

The Autódromo Termas de Río Hondo was (as far as I recall) resurfaced for this year, and the new surface appeared to hold water in longitudinal lines along the lay of the tarmac, which doesn't follow the racing line. Marquez is quoted as saying he locked the front across a wet strip & let off the brakes so as to make the corner. Perhaps the ultimate test is 'would the rider have made the corner were they not to have ridden into a competitor?'.

Dear past champeen Stacey Moaner has been previously quoted as saying that large tarmac run-offs make riders try for gaps they might otherwise leave, feeling there is comparatively little consequence should they make small contact. Clearly, he's in a better position than I to know, and I don't for a moment think he's suggesting we rewind to the 'trees beside the track' faced by Agostini et al.

But anyhoo, regarding Argentina specifically, how many transgressions in one race is too many? What happened to the 'penalty points' system of cumulative sanctions previously applied? And rule 3.3.2.3. (page 236) states "... the FIM MotoGP Stewards Panel can refer the case to the MotoGP Court of Appeal in order to impose a higher penalty than the FIM MotoGP Stewards Panel is empowered to do."

I've not seen mention of any move to take these matters further, but for the sake of both 'sport' & safety, I really think they should.

Overall tho/ough, Cal knew how to look after his tyres/ires, no?

    * By 'he' I mean the team & he.

** Section 1.18.13 of rulebook here - "Any rider who stalls his engine on the grid or who has other difficulties must remain on the motorcycle and raise an arm. It is not permitted to attempt to delay the start by any other means." (i.e. top page 43). The subsequent general procedure appears to be 1.18.18 (i.e. middle page 46) - "The machine(s) which caused the Start Delayed procedure will be removed to the pit lane, regardless of what work is needed to restart the machine. If they can be restarted or a spare machine is taken (MotoGP class) the rider may start the warm up lap from pit lane, and will start the race from the back of the grid." So really it should have been a new grid with Marc at the back, but after all the confusion and delay...

*** Back of the grid next race, arguably losing the championship...

Yup, Oblique Strategies makes a good tool, and is available as a stand alone programme, interactive web page or smartphone app too. Found them useful many times.

Arguably, overall, Brian is the most influential & insightful audio artist of the late 20th/early 21st century. Not even so much for his actual output, but for his development of 'process'.

I suppose Cal did win the race,I havent heard much about in all the breathless excitement over 93 and 46.

Personally it looked to me like MM had little control over his actions after the start,5th was the best he could do,he woulda easily passed to that point with out using riders for berms.
    And got points.

And saying "oh there was a wet spot" after 20 some laps on the same track, did he not notice wet spots earlier? Or just when he pitched it in flat out inside of Rossi?

I tend to go with the idea that MM rides like a spoiled little brat who has been trained to win at any and all costs,in a pinch he reverts back to a bike and rider bashing nutcase.

Rossi was docked 25 points and made to start at back of grid as noted when him and MM had a get together a while ago. so why not marky?

    Spanish rules?
