Rode the PDR > NNEAT a few weeks ago, great route. Thanks to Canuman and VT-GSD/DockingPilot for the tracks. We saw a good amount of logging activity on the NNEAT, with plenty of fully loaded trucks barreling by. Constant vigilance was required in order to keep ourselves from becoming grill ornaments.

At one point, just before Greenville, we were stopped by a logger and told that we were trespassing on a private road. He was friendly and I'd say the interaction went pretty smoothly. He ended up telling us that the quickest way to get off the road was to proceed ahead - which we gladly did.

Shout out to inmate c-zulu, hope you had a great ride!

I was on the Maine portion of the ride with billll (my brother) and can report that we too found the gate closed at Pittsburg.

Great talking with you fella's., my ride was, interesting to say the least… Some bike issues that had to be resolved and with the help of some inmates here, I was back on the road in a few days… Say there's a GoPro3 white somewhere between Hwy-27 and Hwy-201 on the NEAT… keep an eye open for it…I was low on fuel and unable to go back and look for it…

Just did most of the NNEAT, last week, as part of a loop through New England (including the Puppy Dog, as the originator intended). That section at Pittsburg is still gated. An opening on the east end invites motorcycles through, but the west end was blocked with large boulders, which were easy to get over on a dual sport, but would be much more difficult if riding east.

A newer challenge, is the Appleton and Grace Pond roads from Beaudry road to Route 201, at Parlin Pond. An innkeeper at the Lake Parlin Lodge showed me a picture showing the road was washed out so badly that it looked impassable. Sorry, I decided to take his advice and go around to the north, because it looked too difficult for me, but if anyone checks it out please comment here.

Attached is a small .gpx file showing both challenges, and suggested bypasses. I think the bypass at Pittsburg has fuel stations, and the one at Parlin Pond has fuel and food, so they might be convenient, anyway.

Edit: I now suspect that the closure west of Parlin Pond may be based on false information from a Lake Parlin Lodge innkeeper. Please report if you have ridden this section since the spring of 2016, when it was reportedly washed out.

Thanks for the Intel Cloud. Changes have to be expected over the years as I originally built the route in 08'. That's a shame on the gate out of Pittsburg as that was a hell of a nice way to cross into Maine.
    Again, thanks for the info.

    Hey everyone,

I'm debating a labor day weekend ride on my DRZ400 and this trail is looking cool. I live in Rochester NY. My rough itinerary:

Friday - Ride to Burlington VT and crash at my friend's place
Saturday: Wake up early AM and tackle as much of this trail as the sun will allow me, then find a motel(I don't have camping gear yet, and would rather not weigh my bike down)
Sunday: find my way back to burlington, either backtracking the trail or different roads.
    Monday: back to rochester

How much ground do you guys think a 20 year old guy with a big-bored DRZ can cover in a full day of riding? I'd love to make it to Mt Katahdin but it looks far.

Also, can I do this with the stock DRZ tank? I can squeeze 100 miles out of a tank if I ride conservatively

I'll be doing some of the same, except that I'm starting downstate NY on Friday, and am planning to end up on the Gaspe Penninsula on Wednesday. PM me if you'd like to see if we'll have some overlap.

Did anyone ever end up riding this route, and has experiences and GPX tracks to share? I'm looking to do a five day ride starting on Labor Day weekend.
