Welcome to the madhouse Tim!!
Yup, that's me. ADV sticker on the rusty bumper, and a KTM sticker on the driver's side rear window.
I have that same pannier and trunk on my Wee.
i chickened out, like the little girl i am
Anyone want to get together for a ride call me at 3195517097 van
Put the Multi in the garage last night to put my GoPro mounts on her...got lazy, watched a movie called "Tucker and Earl Vs Evil" and then went to bed.
Ended up caging it in to work today and now am feeling sick to my stomach. I think the powers that be are trying to tell me that not riding is a sin.
Ugh...hate work...want to ride. Bored bored bored.
/end pointless rambling
I know exactly how you feel. I get plum vile after not riding for a couple of days. I'm to the point that going on vacation with the family just leaves me dreaming about where I could have been riding instead of vacationing. It's a vice, but heck, everybody should have a good vice, right?
We should get a ADV meet up going for this summer. Seems like we have quite a bit of people on here. Anyone go to the gathering on the grounds over the summer when they have them? Pretty much every Tuesday evening of the summer starting in April the state fair grounds is filled with bikes/cars. The first one is April 10th I believe.
Took my R90/6 on it's first shake down ride, we were headed to Ames to get some Hickory Park and I got to about Maxwell and the clutch gave out on me. Turns out it was the throw out bearing and the pressure plate. Both have been ordered and am now awaiting their arrival.
Better pictures of my bike, if you see me around wave me down!
myself on the bike before the clutch incident.
Rode to work today.
Co-worker approaches me and says, "You RODE today?? You know it is going to rain this afternoon...right?"
I opened my backpack and showed him my awesome raingear. He still looked perplexed.
I put in 140ish miles last night. Did a loop down through Winterset to Osceola back up through Indianola and then home with several side jaunts off on B surface roads. The Multi in enduro mode feels like a great big dirtbike.
I ran my GoPro but discovered that an 8GB card is WAY too small for 720p @60fps.
Meeting up with a smallish group at Struthers Saturday morning 11am to do the "Pella Loop" out of Newton.
This is the "typical" route.
They usually take interstate to get to Newton while I go through Altoona/Mitchellville/Colfax myself.
That's a nice route, rode it last week. when turning back north after Pella, the next paved road after the one you show on the map (T-38 going in to Taintor) is nice as well.
Live in the suburbs of Ames, Nevada. Our paths ought to cross! I ride a 650 KLR on the back roads and have a bigger Honda for the hard ones...we ought to get together for a ride sometime....
Where do you ride around Nevada? Are there any good roads out that way?
I laid tile all day yesterday, so I'm thinking about taking the day off and doing this today:
Here's some stuff I found during my trip down to Winterset and back:
An old John Deere combine and what a friend of mine refers to as my "Allis Chalmers."
A windmill that has seen better days:
A total of about 89.5 horses:
Such a beautiful little colt:
Hogback Covered Bridge near Winterset:
Wow, it was sunny over there today. Cloudy and dreary here all day. Really like the windmill photo.
Just got home from 365 mile ride today.
It was you I saw just before noon today wasn't it Orange?
Was on my way to the carwash before I took this route with my wife and my buddy on my old bike...
Was a bit warm...but a really nice day for a ride.
Sac & Fox Overlook, just north of Steamboat Rock...
Yep, that was me. I figured it was you. Not a lot of Multis running around WDM . . . yet. Look at my post above. We crossed paths on Sunday. I went to Winterset and back via gravel. It was a really nice trek. I even found a short "B" road that was fun on a 500 pound dirt bike.
I did see that. I avoided the B roads this trip because my wife was on the back and my buddy was on my old Monster. Figured it didn't want to risk having to replace the CF hugger.
Saturday's route was a bit longer. Met up with a couple of guys at the Love's in Newton by the Speedway from Chicago and Milwaukee returning from a trip to Death Valley. Couple of very road worn thumpers that had me wanting to pack up my gear on the bike and head off on an adventure. Chatted with them for a while and then split off from my small group and headed for home via the scenic route.
Ran into a couple on Harleys at the Casey's in Polk City and they were floored that I had over 600 miles in in less than 5 days riding the new bike. They couldn't fathom riding more than a hundred miles in a weekend.
Anyway, one of the guys I rode with on saturday has been thinking about a Saddlesore 1k or a Bun Burner Gold in the near future. Since I was already planning the same after my 600 mile break-in service (now 100 miles past due lol), I think he will tag along with mine. Not doing a straight out and back ride on the slab. My tentative route would take me down into southern Missouri/northern Arkansas in a big loop the back up to home.
Starting to develop a strong wanderlust. Just want to get on the bike and see where I end up next. But silly me...job...wife...responsibilities. :huh
