I did part of that just the other day. It's a good ride. Wish I could have tagged along.

So had a lot of fun on my ride. I did discover a few things though too...
The Multi is AWESOME on pavement...wicked fun on gravel and the suspension in Enduro setting is pretty close to spot on.
But 100hp (the HP setting in Enduro) is more than any off-road bike should have. Especially one that weighs over 400 lbs.
I took 225 Trail which is a B surface road that runs from near Holliwell bridge to near Patterson and it handled everything pretty well except deep ruts. With a normal dirtbike, if your back wheel drops in, you just transfer weight forward and whip it out. On the Multi, you pray for the rut to end lol.

I took a bunch of video and am going to edit it up and post it as a ride report. I was going to shoot some pics but when I got to Cedar, I went to pull out my camera and remembered that the case just had my lenses and the camera itself was upstairs on my work bench.

I did discover that where the road across Cedar meets back up with Cedar Bridge Road at the south end, a very heavy coating of moon dust has settled down there. I blasted through it and you can actually hear me laughing on the video. :rofl

I need to get back to my dirt roots. I found myself puckering up quite a bit when i should have been loosey goosey.

The trail up to the Scott Tower in the city park in Winterset is fan-damn-tastic too btw.

Hi, I'd like to chip in to the thread..

In 1987 I was riding around North America, for a few months, and was riding around
with a fellow from Vinton, Iowa by the name of Jerry Hinz. We met up with his brother
and a bunch of good people at Sturgis '87.

Yep' I was there, and it was real... :lol3 Wonder if anyone from Iowa remembers me.:ear

Is that a restaurant? I keep looking for a park but only find a restaurant. I'll leave my fly rod at home if it's a restaurant. :)

LOL. Yeah. It is something of an Ames institution. Good 'que...great comfort food and amazing ice cream desserts.

BTW, I love the looks I get around the office when I come strolling in in the morning in full gear on a rainy day. :huh

What do you guys think about starting a Iowa Photo Tag Thread?

I have been watching lots of other similar threads in the Central forum and it looks like a lot fun. I almost drove up to Le Sueur, MN today to get the Central USA tag but too many 12oz curls last night.

    Thumbs up or thumbs down?

See, and I always try to find gear that makes me not look like a world traveller or Power Ranger. But, the people who don't know me give me a really funny look when I walk in a state government building with all sorts of power cords poking out of my jacket in the winter. :)

I went from looking like a power ranger to a world traveller. I prefer the latter. :lol3

Was originally planning on going out to MAM today and shoot some pics of the other half of my former race team at a Track Addix track day but since I was going to take the bike, decided that while getting caught in a tornado or hailstorm would be a good test for my new weather-resistant gear and be a grand adventurer, it was also rolling the dice on the verge of stupid.

So I will edit my videos from my bridge trip the other day and think up other interesting afternoon/weekend trips I can do around the state. Dragoon Trail north might be the next...

Got in around 100 Miles yesterday with a couple of my friends. Went out around Saylorville Lake, then took 2 lane roads out to Slater IA and stopped for some fuel, headed back to Des Moines and rode around Easter Lake and the south side and ended back up in Ankeny. It was pretty windy but it was a beautiful day of riding.

Rode the Ark 500 last weekend...actually went down a day early to get an extra day in. All total we rode 700 miles, 500 was the 500 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Sunday was cut short by storms but did finish with 140 miles. This is a really nice ride...as you can stay with their groups or ride it on your own. It is probably the most varied riding with in 8 hours drive. If anyone is interested I do have a number of great Arkansas tracks. The link below is to their reagular ride report thread and shows pics of some of the terain. There were about 44 riders, a lot from Texas and Oklahoma. There are some airline pilots from Texas that really cover some serious ground on 600R Honds.

Reminder, that the 5th and 6th is the Missouri Bridges ride. I am planning to go and do have the tracks. If you are interested, let me know. I am thinking of riding down and back. There are some nice back roads once you make the Missouri boarder.

In Arkansas there was a lot of talk about the Kansas Flint Hills Ride...one not to miss.
