How much of it is gravel?
That route, just a mile on a detour east of Albia between there and Ottumwa.
I had my wife pillion and she doesn't like the loose feeling on gravel so we avoid it when she is passenger.
But I do want to do River Rd on the south side of the DSM River heading SE out of Ottumwa. All gravel and follows the curves of the river.
Let me know when, l'd be game to ride it.

Make sure you stop at Garrison Rock and hike the .5 back to Horse Thief Cave.
I did a little work in the back yard yesterday
Made my 23 year old double safer.
That thing about killed me 6 years ago.
The original landing ramp is still to the right in this picture.

Dang! Went right past there one day on the way to Bonaparte. Bonaparte was a bust, so I went to visit an old friend in Fort Madison before going home. I did get past Eldon on the way home, though. You gotta go there. One day I want to dress up in overalls and my helmet and take a shot with my KTM in front of this:

ZOMG!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO LEVI!!!!
haha thanks Ryan!
I got the airhead out this morning and got it all cleaned up. Rode her to work today!
Just finished a 2100-mile Lake Superior tour. Looks like the weeds here had fun while I was gone.
Awesome!! I leave September 6th to do the same trip!
It was pretty chilly on the north shore...mornings in the 40s and afternoons in the 60s. I can't imagine doing it in September.
The dates we are going are toward the beginning of Sep, last years weather over the dates we are going in September seemed to average around 70° for the high. Hopefully it will be the same this year!
I hope the weather cooperates with you. It's an awesome trip. I will do it again...but counter-clockwise next time.
If the weather does not hold out for it we will pick another location to go to!
That's the way we went a few years ago. I after we were done, I figured it was the best way, since you hit the UP first, and most of the roads there are farther back from the lake.
Are you saying you didn't like clockwise or that you need to do both?
I'm saying to do both. I chose clockwise for my first time as it fit my schedule, and I didn't to much east of Munising in the U.P. as I'm there quite a bit. Plus, I figured I could just pull off and see what I wanted without turning across traffic. However, the truck traffic wasn't near as bad as I was led to believe in Ontario.
