I had the same thoughts about attendance, but they said it exceeded their estimations.

i've been a sato fan since his f1 days. he said he screwed the pooch, and he certainly did. there were a couple of other guys who came in too hot as well. kind of surprising, really.

for whatever reason, sato seems to believe he can violate the laws of physics at will. maybe too much anime as a child...

good race. not a tcg fan, but nice to see them have a showing after a miserable season. good for honda too, although chevy's ability to manage fuel was probably the primary issue.

Got back a couple hrs ago. Light turnout, and quite a few free tix were handed out, so who knows what paid attendance was.

Track has cosmetic improvements, but its not a friendly place to view a race, really, as the seats on the frontstretch offer only a fair view of the action. Heat wasn't terrible, but if it was 500 mi it would have been rough.

They need to adjust the aero package, almost no passing on track other than lapped traffic and when guys had to dial back the fuel. I must say, the end was pure fuel management, which doesn't do much for me, but a single yellow could have changed that.

Usual Pocono traffic hassles, made bearable by the light crowd. Its good to have it back, but they'll need to work on it some to make it stick.

you know, you're right. the wings were low and flat, and yet the chevys were still having to dial the fuel way up for pace. momentum passing seemed pretty common today, but if you were tucked behind someone and pulled out to pass then things got a bit dicey.

the tv telemetry was showing drivers staying in 5th gear most of the lap, with just a small percentage of time spent in 6th.

Love that track and I hope IndyCar is there for many more years.

Takuma Sato has always been the human cannonball. He's a hazard to everyone on the track. What a dumbshit.

Great to see Honda sweep the podium. The series needs that. Yeah, the fuel conservation mode sucks. Andretti had to walk back to the pits.

glepore, thanks for the report from on the scene. Bummer about the ingress/egress problems. For viewing, even the high seats weren't any good?

Watching the race, I wondered about riding up there next year.

The high seats are ok, but superspeedway viewing generally isn't my cup of tea. Just one asshole's opinion, though. If you ride in/out you might be better off than in a car, if you're willing to be, um, adventurous.

Overall, if you just want the speedway experience, its ok. It's fairly remote, however, you'd likely want to stay in say, WilkesBarre/Scranton or Allentown, unless you camp. No infield camping that I'm aware of, but plenty of stuff in the area.

Overall, I had a better time at Baltimore, and I've been going to Pocono since the CART days in the 80's-mor fun then, hot pits during qually etc:D

I can't believe that after all of his stoopid move, Takuma Sato still gets paid to race a car.

No kidding. He's actually having a great season. But the guy is a menace. It's not like he slightly misjudged his pit entry speed. He treated it like it was Turn 4.

The Toronto race is spread over two days. Eastern time 3pm both Saturday and Sunday.

They're going to do standing starts. I'm really looking forward to that. They're much more exciting than the normal rolling start.

especially because the flying starts just can't seem to get lined up these days. on any kind of track. horrible.

    standing starts are much better.

He's on probation now. One more stupid move and they'll lock him up.

I was looking forward to a standing start, but they aborted it. I turned it on late, so I don't know why.

Yeah, a stall. Real shame. But there's always tomorrow. I don't understand why they can't parade them around and try it again.

That was an exciting race. Best street course ever?
