If anyone is planning on doing a Saddle Sore or Bun Burner ride and is in need of a partner let me know. I am looking to do another one. I am of minimal navigational help but I am ready and willing !

Not doing a sanctioned ride but always up for long distance if you're interested. How many miles are you up for? And where do you hail from?
I regularly do 2500 on a long weekend and 400 plus for a day ride. Out of Los Angeles.
November looking to run to Florida along the "redneck riveria"

I did 1000 in just over 18hrs. It wasn't hard at all. That's why I'm thinking of doing a BunBurner next. I'm not a hard core millage eater guy. Just want took have fun and I and I am always up for a challenge. I figure the next logical step would be BB right? Or am I off base here

F800gs longest I've been in the saddle is 9 hrs and did 600 miles but some of that was off-road I guess I got some work to do I always seem to get distracted and see a road and say I wonder where that goes only one way to find out lol
I'd like to do the heaven to hell ride
I also have been looking at the four corners USA tour but I think the key west part is gone

Iron Butts are always the best to do solo. Too many variables to have a riding partner. With a Super Tenere anyone can easily do the 1500 mile gold. I figure you must be over 80 years old if you are planning an IB on that bike. Most guys get the IB on wimpy touring machines that a 90 year old grandpa can easily complete.

FWIW, I was in wimp mode myself and had to use a baby blow up seat and throttle paddles for my Bun Burner. Dirt bikes are very comfortable and most reliable type of machines for the IB.

All joking aside Craig, You will really be fine doing this solo on a Tenere.

I did the Costa Mesa to Benson AZ and back. 5 South to 8 east connect to the 10 to Benson AZ. Turn around and take 10 East to the 60-215-91-55 and back.

Another option that my buddy got his on was 5 North to Red Bluff and back.

    Good Luck!!

ya but having a Sena and a buddy makes ticking the miles away much more fun.
It's like getting a nut, sure you can do it by yourself but isn't it more fun to have a partner

I won't do one solo. I think it's safer and more fun with a partner

Where in california do you live? I rode a SS1000 a couple years ago with my friend on road bikes. (VFR 800 and FZ 1 ) We stayed off the big freeways choosing well paved 2 lanes most of the way. Went down from the Bay Area to SLO religion, across 58 to Bakersfield, then Lake Isabella, Baker, Grapevine and back home on 33. Made 1000 early in the morning and total of 1248 for 24 hours.

A little planning and we could have had 1500 in 24 easy.

The Asphalt Rats are doing a SS1000 rally starting/ending in Mazatlan in November. I'm thinking about it. If the wife gives me the okay, I'll be there on my new KTM1290 Super Adventure T (8 gallon fuel tank). If they hold to past practice, you finish in the dark riding down the Espinazo del Diablo to Mazatlan. That will not be an easy way to get your SS1000 but it will be entertaining

I'm in Escondido and always willing to ride if I can get away from work and have no Search and Rescue activities scheduled. Too many commitments have limited my ride time lately - so far this year I have only been able to ride 1 SaddleSore 1,000 (last week 2-up with wife in 16hrs 45 minutes), 1 BBG 1500, 1 BBS 1500 (2-up with wife during HW3 32 hour Rally in Grand Junction, and 1 100CCC. Also had another 5,000 2-up with wife during a 5 day camping trip in August. PM for contact info. I'm on a GS Adventure.
