Is a add-on handlebar crossbar worthwhile on the F650GS ?

Yeah so basically I'm heading out on a long trip and will be off-road a fair amount in out of the way places.
I'd hate to bend the handle bars and then have to ride the rest of the trip with them screwed up.

Is a add-on handlebar crossbar worthwhile?
If so has anyone got a source for one they'd recommend?

    Thanks!

I installed one to use as the attachment point of my GPS mount and roll chart holder. The added stiffness came as a bonus.

Mine is from Touratech. There may be others out there, not sure.

    You're welcome.

I do have the OEM handguards, no interference. I will run out and snap a pic and measure the bar length, hold on...

Overall - view from the seat.

I have the gps mount to the side so I can see the dash. I put the roll chart holder on the right side.

Left clamp. The scuffs you see near the left clamp are not scratches. They are duct tape glue residue (been too lazy to remove it).

    THANK YOU! :clap

... I did not relish the thought of buying all four and returning three of them ...
I'm leave in a couple weeks and it's been crazy...

Does the added bar block any of the view of stock gauges when you are sitting down?

    Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
It just occured to me that the F659GS only has 7/8" diameter bars, while I think the F800GS has 1 1/8" bars ....
Do you think there might be enough of a "gap" on the clamps to accommodate?

    Addendum:
I just talked to a guy a Touratech he says the diameter should be fine,
so since they clear the hand guards I'm going to order up a set!

No, or I have gotten accustomed to it that I "see through it".
