So after getting caught in a real bad storm the digital part of the instrument panel on my 1200gs doesn't read anything, thoughts?

For at least a day or two, and don't ride it. Water and electronics do not mix well. If the instruments are no yet fried, they may become fried.

Also, if you are handy, you might consider removing the plug to the instrument cluster and drying it out, then add dialectric grease to the plug to keep water out next time.

Ok, so bought the one off e bay, took it to BMW shop today, tech spent 4 hours trying to sink the computer to the instrument panel, everything else works on it but the mileage won't programme to my mileage, ie the unit I bought was at 83K mines at 53K but it wont reset to 53, any ideas or have I wasted my money?

Subtract 30,000 miles from the reading and have it documented by a court of law for a potential future sale.

I've had to pull mine off, disassemble it, resolder the LCD connector and controller and put it all back together twice to get the LCD functioning again. Last time, I actually found a loose pin on the controller. These things take a hell of a beating under low RPM acceleration. I'm surprised the tach and spedo servos don't disintegrate.

BTW, I've been in the rain allot but don't see any moisture intrusion evidence when inside the unit.

Thanks, I don't suppose you'd be interested in taking a look at my old unit to see if you could repair it?:D
