Yes it is a slur. Was it aimed at any one? I doubt it.
You are correct when you say people need to develop thicker skins if they want to hang out on the inter webs.

Political correctness isn't a cancer. It's a term word smithed to justify conversations that show a lack of respect for their fellow humans.

    back to topic...

I think the waterhead or wethead, or whatever nickname eventually sticks should have it's own seperate section.

Maybe instead of a seperate forum we could just get an agreed upon term to use in thread titles for each model, and include it in the forum rules. This would simplify searches and browsing.

    R1200GSW R1200GSLC Wethead R 1200 GS WC R1200 GSWC R1200 GS LC 1200GS 1200 GS R1200GSA R1200GS Adventure R 1150 GS R1150GS 1150GS etc.

This infinite amount of variation can make searching for threads a pain in the ass. Even with google.

Even though GSA might have been used to designate abs at one time we all use it for the adventure model, and I would propose the following terms.
    No spaces.
    R1200GSW (+2013)
    R1200GS
    R1200GSA
    R1150GS
    R1150GSA
    R1100GS

I don't know. Probably never be able to get anyone to adhere to it. Also then there is the whole hex head camhead differences.

Wow! Hard to believe that this is a forum made up of adventure riders judging from a couple of the posts.

A "slur" is an insult, my post was tongue in cheek, much like making a comment similar to: "your starting to sound like my wife", which you see from time to time on this forum and never once get offended thinking the poster is insulting his wife.

I can't believe I'm having to explain this.

    Yea, you're right.
We should completely separate the liquid cooled models after all.

Being a N0ob has little to do with post count, and a lot to do with attitude, understanding the way of things and maturity.:deal

I highly doubt you will find a more knowledgeable community of helpful people! I doubt more than a few with personal issues will abandon the site for lack of divided forums.

This from the man (or woman?) who vehemently defends threads about earphones, riding attire, sewing circles, and cappuccinos, all mixed in with "GS Boxers"? Astounding!
Get your story straight, would ya?

Edit; "straight" was not intended as a slur to anyone, real or imagined

how about a combo "idgaf but if you do... you might as well take it further"

how about by "year" also. for instance if I want to adjust my valves on an 09 do I do the same as on an '11?

how about changing the final drive lube? do I change my 09 the same as somebody with an 05'?

in all honesty I think they should indeed have THREE BMW "GS" forums.

    - Boxer
    - Parallel
    - Thumper

and yes I know there is a separate "thumper" already... but they should be listed as such under GSpot.

I just checked the first page of gspot. The following terms were used in titles of different threads.
    GS LC
    GSW
    R1200GSA
    GS-W
    Liquid cooled R1200GS
    1150GS
    Water cooled
    R1150GS
    2005 GS
    2007 GSA
    R1200GS
    cam head
    1200GS
    1150 GS
    R1200GS LC
    R1200 GS/LC
    R1200GSW
    R1150 GSA
    09 GSA
    GS
    GSA

My point being that there is no uniformity of terminology and its no wonder no one can ever find anything even with a search.

No noob reads the rules anyhow and starts a new thread before even looking into the history files. That is why they're tons of oil threads etc. Like GB said: if it's new(s) to you it has to be new(s) to everyone...

Don't get me wrong your idea is great but stays an utopia =/

Nope. Dissect it. Substitute another subject and see, e.g., "sounds like a band saw cutting through metal" is not a slur on band saws. The mere mention of something is not pejorative[1]. On top of that, there was a reference to a popular comedy show and how it handled similar subject matter, and AFAIK was never accused of casting aspersions.

[1] Except in the topsy-turvy world of political correctness, where entire topics and diversity of opinion are forbidden.

Oil forum has precedence over liquid cool given the magnitude of discussions in GSpot.
