It all depends on the layovers. Usually Ludwig plans those tours via Cuba, Jamaica, Providencia and Panama. The trip this year was 61 days. But I guess he would skip some of that if most people just want to get to Cartagena as quick as possible. Going directly from Isla Mujeres to Cartagena is very inconvenient because of the wind. He would have to use the engine most of the time which kind of sucks for longer distances. So it is advisable to go at least via Cuba which is a very interesting place to travel with moto anyway... So with only a 2 weeks stopover there the whole trip from Isla Mujeres to Cartagena would take something like 25 days.
But that are only my thoughts. I don't know yet what Ludwigs plans are if it comes to all that ;)

I could easily see doing that one. Then storing the KTM in Colombia for future fly-n-rides.

Do you or anyone else know the 'rules' on leaving motorcycles behind? I'm thinking specifically time limits for temporary imports but any info is good.

Can you give us an Idea of how many bikes the ship can transport ? Number of passengers also ?
I'd love to add Cuba and Jamaica to the list of countries I've ridden !

I’m no longer current on the details. Just aware of others doing this.

    There’s this.

    And this.

I think the record is 22 bikes and 28 people. But that was for the short trip between Panama and Colombia. I don't think he would fill up the boat like that for a long trip from Mexico to Colombia...
It's not possible to get a bike on land in Jamaica by the way, sorry.

I think the DR could keep up with a KTM a while!

Your DR would pass my KTM at around 30K miles. Maybe sooner.

I am on my 6th year on ride and fly. I rode from Alaska to the tip of SA. I am on my return ride and now returning from Peru with my KLR. Probably ride to Bogota and fly back to Panama in September, but am interested in going by sea, by passing Nicaragua . I took the Rat over so would consider a return sail, especially via Cuba.
Fly and ride is very difficult since all countries have different expirations on TVIP permits. I did it, enjoyed the countries on my routes, time and moto, returning when I wanted.

    Thank you!

Fly and ride is exactly what I'm thinking. Currently do this in the US and am very interested in the logistics of south of the border.

Also fly and ride in Mexico but we leave the bikes on the US side. Looking to extend that journey.

Very cool - small World. Performed years and years ago at the Sopot Music Festival and Gdansk was home base. And the Polish language is definitely a tough nut to crack. Bezpieczne podróże

World Cup: I'll have to plan around that. I don't follow soccer, so I'll be glad to avoid the crowds if I can. I'm sure some of the games will be played in the Avaya Stadium in San Jose, or larger stadiums normally used for American Football.

And because USA is a host they automatically qualify Save the embarrassment of this year.

Now Watching Iceland vs Argentina Score 1-1 with 4 minutes of overtime to go.
For little Iceland to hold a powerhouse like Argentina to 1-1 is great World Cup soccer! :-)
