Haha yep, well so far the shopping list includes new plastics and new tyres. Turns out I am missing the front number plate fairing thing, so its pay throught the nose or make one. Maybe buy a polisport or something and replace the whole unit. Mystery paint code alert.. 96 xr400 frame code. I found an arcane reference to Honda Terra Silver, but no way of knowing for sure. I have emailed honda..

Oh and tossing around d606 on rear and mt21 on front or ac10 and maybe mc 360 on the front. Any thoughts at the risk of hijacking my own thread

Locking nut is missing from your sidestand bolt. I just ordered some MC-5 f&r from MCAS for the sand and mud riding that I'll be doing in the hopefully near future. Pretty cheap but maybe a bit aggressive compared with your two choices https://www.mcas.com.au/shop/item/metzeler-mc5-tyre-special

UFO used to do a replica of the headlight shroud, i think i paid around 100 bucks for the plastic bits and the headlight lens and globe,,cant remember if it came with straps

Any drain holes should be pumped full of fish oil to prevent further damage,,, from memory?? they had 4 or 5 and not at the lowest point

Shell have a product called Ensign fluid which is a thin liquid that flows everywhere and dries to form a grease that doesn't dry out like fish oil tends to.

Keep trawling Ebay. I was about to pull the trigger on a K&N air filter for $100 a few days later I found one for $5 new in the box.
Take a sample of the paint to Autobarn and they can colour match it and put it in a spray can for you.

Thanks you lot, appreciate it. I have found a mob called Touch Up paints who seem to be able to make me a can of NH262M Terra Silver. I found the code on the partzilla pic for the frame of the year model. It nh262m for anyone's reference.

So excitedly awaiting tyres (d606 rear mt21 front), grips, new ballards headlight (i got impatient) a full set of plastics, new irons and some wheel balancing weights. Order the paint tomorrow. Probably need to order a set of honda bolts.. Will try to follow up on the tip re lubing frame innards, good call. Any tips in rust inhibiting primer? Presuming need to etch prime first?

I considered the mc5s bit I need to do a bit of tarmac. Will try this combo first, its a bit more conservative.

Loving that mxstore lot with their afterpay. Makes it feel cheaper lol.

Ride it first with the old plastic would be my advice. Then add the bling :-)
