Is this 2007 990 a good deal? What should I ask about?

Been in the market for a 990. Plenty of 950 a flight & day ride back to Houston, TX but not many 990 in the past few weeks. Been considering the uber-outfitting one in Orlando (too high price based on my research and the 2007 990 listed in the flea market with around 48K miles.

Looks like the water pump, valves & shocks should be good for awhile. Hopefully the FM4 + tune removed the jerky throttle I've read about but I can tackle that later if need be (haven't seen many 09-11 bikes for sale).

Bike looks decent in the pictures. I would need to add some engine protection like skid plate & front guards.

Feel free to PM since it might be awkward to say something listed on the flea market is a shit deal :D

FWIW I plan to explore hill country & sam houston park, infrequently commute (short distance) and work my way up to Big Bend and Mexico down the road. I won't have time for more than 1 week long trip a year. I've read up on the 990 so I'm not asking if a 990 is the right bike...asking what more do I need to find out about this one?

Looks like it has been taken care of and it has the needed add ons. I'd say the price is in the ball park but with the miles I'd like to be all in closer to 6.5K. If I really wanted it I probably wouldn't worry about haggling too much.

Price may be a few hundred too high, but really, that bike is in show room condition, which means that the owner loved her and treated her well. Looks like a great bike that will have you smiling for at least another 48k.

Actually it's an amazing deal. It comes with crash bars AND a custom radiator guard too. It's been maintained and you should have no worries about a fly and ride.

    BTW- its MINE.

Thats a great deal, there are thousands of 07s that run just fine. There were many upgrades made in that year from the earlier models.
They don't make the 9xx version anymore, as far as i can see these bike will be holding there value if not going up...

I wouldn't sell my 07 for 9 grand. and it has 43,000 miles on it.

now you should finish fillin out your profile n00b, its just common curtsy, you can be taken for a troll... i usually wont post to a question in here if a person cant take the time to fill out a profile.:D

I too have an 07. Great bike with around 32000 miles on it. My buddy asked if I would be getting a new 1190 and I said NO. I'll probably have this one forever. :evil

    Profile updated!

Thanks for the replies. I've done my research but it's great to get opinions from folks w/actual experience on the bikes. Especially the unbiased one from DBF :rofl

I remember my R6 went up in value when the cost of a new 600 skyrocketed but I doubt that's the case with adventure bikes...for now.

Have the same year model. Cant speak for the mileage as mine has just just 12,500 KM / 7,700 Miles. Just no time to go on long rides the last 2 years!

I can speak to the ability to commute which is excellent. Can also say that the grey 990's in this year look awesome.:D

    Some things i would ask...
    Fuel pump filter ever replaced?
Suspension, any work done to it... revalve oil change?
    Front wheel still straight?
    Any oil leaks?
Has the chain slider been updated with longer bolts and loctite...TSB

Will it do a 3rd gear power wheelie?...:lol3

    Good luck and hang on...

edit; i see it has the SPS treatment, worth about $800 bones
