Walking up 5th Avenue this morning there were salvation army bells ringing, tourists window shopping and it was 24 degrees Fahrenheit (unfortunately not Celcius) on November 24th. Thanksgiving is 4 days away. It got me thinking about New Year's day and the annual Isle of Man(hattan) Ride. Last year 'wiseblood' stated that the ride started in 1992 making this the 23rd year. There is a post on ADVRider about the 2007 ride being the 14th annual ride. If that is correct then my math says that this is the 21st year and started on New Years Day 1994. There is a video of the 2004 ride on YouTube that states it started in the late 80's. Can anyone confirm the year the ride started and hence what anniversary this is? Since no one else has started this thread I figured I would do it: So, the plan as lore has passed it down to us: * Meet up at Sidewalk cafe at 11 am. 94 Ave. A. (Between E 6th & E 7th) * Sometime around 12, a critical mass of riders will head off on a loop around Manhattan. (Up the FDR from 14th Street, West on Cross Bronx, South on Henry Hudson / West Side Highway, Around the southern tip of Manhattan and up the FDR back to the starting point.) * Folks often come earlier for breakfast. Second breakfasts will also be served after. *Kickstands up 12 noon-ish. Rain, snow or shine! Who's in?
