Anyone near Aviano ride off-road? I am moving there in May of 2014. Not sure when my bike will get there but I would like to set it up prior to shipping. If there isn't much off road then I need to change out all the sprockets and tires for the road. I appreciate any insight and looking forward to ridding/meeting some folks.

    thanks

Here I am, not far away
In Italy you need a street legal bike to ride , if not you will be limited to MX tracks
its not N.America, spaces are small and there are lot of restrictions, but it is still possible to have fun
and the scenery is the best i the world just some dozen kms north.

You have the right tool for the job ! Fun to ride on the hundreds of twisties and perfect for the dirt roads. Just check for insurance and plates - you could ride up to a year with USA plates.

Giorgio good day, should have some first hand information about the new italian invention about the winter tyre legislation.
Many bikers avoid italy this year, cause they won`t change the off road tyre. Myselfe am driving a sidecar with three not allowed tyre. How are the reactiones in italy, concerning this law ?

In reality : never heard of someone on a bike checked for winter tires.

Even for cars controls are virtually non-existent.

Dear Giorgio, i am astonished, the german association for traffic speaks from fees, beginning from about fees with 400 Euros.
It is an amacing world, a couple with a bike were taken the bike, around lago di garda, cause their registration plate had a wrong angle, had 35 instead off 30,.....
    Hans,
beside, when do we make a european adv meeting somewhere around Calvi ore better Bonifacio?!

The law write : you may ride in summer with any of the tires allowed by bike/car registration paper, M+S or summer,
the registration plate is another of the things that they check because sport bikers usually fix them very inclined (or even motorized) to avoid speed traps.

An advmeeting in Corse should be done , sooner or later , only problem is the safety of bikes , I had my ténérè stolen 30 years ago, but Dirk/Kimangao had his stolen last year...

Yes Corsica and the stolen bikes,
they often take the new ones, fresh on the market and no used parts are still available. Heard about it in the nineties, concerning the African Twin. The people say it is a summerjob, the stolen bikes are transported to Sardignia ant then Europe.
Till now, nothing was stolen, had about 15 visits on the island. Tanks for the informations, Hans
