I'm still lurking around.:lol3 Haven't got to ride a lot lately, except little short jaunts to keep the fluids circulating. Hopefully that will change with the longer daylight hours and warmer weather.:thumb

well y'all may scold me for this but I want to share, i haven been on my bike much for the last month and here's why, My oldest girls is getting married in May, and she made a request to me and my dad. she wants to arrive and leave in this

now this truck has a story, it's been in my Family since new in 76. it is the only new car/truck anyone in my family has ever owned, my dad can walk around it and tell you where all but a few dents came from and who put them there. I have dented it, he has, mom has my two sisters have, cozens that are now dead have, My oldest girl has, it has worked, haled hay, pulled buses, i drove it when my right ankle was broke, it has drug my friends truck out of a river, a nouther out of a monster mud hole. it has seen to many cars and truck come and go and it still is standing,. now a few years ago it started running bad and I couldn't afford to have insurance on it so it got parked, i would crank it up every few months and move it around and wash it from time to time but it sat, one of the cylinders stopped firing, it had a dead lifter, so one valve wouldn't open, still i would crank it up and move it around the yard, last year the brake booster froze up, but still i would crank it and move it, well 2 months ago i did just that i cranked it and moved it washed it off and she told me she wanted to arrive in it, ok no problem, fix the brakes and drop a new lifter in it.

Nope. it would have nothing of the sort. i cranked it up the next week to go pull the front tires off and the oil light wouldn't go out. ok it's low of oil. i pull the dip stick and I find water in the oil. i call dad and tell him what has happened and then tell my daughter she will have to ask him to help me get it running if she wants it for the wedding. so she does. i go the next weekend and drain the oil and water mix out, pore what ever oil i can find around here into it and crank it up. i have oil pressure, i call dad and tell him I'm on my way to his shop. the truck has now dropped two cylinders on the left bank so it's running on 6 instead of 8 but it pulls it's self 2 miles to his shop. we talk about how bad its running and take the hood off and place it in the bed, i leave it with teh understanding that i will come over the next Saturday and we will pull the motor. Dad has it out that Monday:huh

i go over that Saturday and we start with this.

A Ford medium block 360ci motor

by the end of the day we have this

and once we start ordering parts we find out it is a Ford 390ci motor, when dad got a rebuilt motor for it they sent him a 390 instead of a 360, the difference it the 390 has a longer stroke. this is the reason he always shad the timeing was off after this motor was put in the truck. anyway we got everything ordered, dad tinkered during the week and got the heads worked and i spent money on parts, the truck is also getting a new master cylinder, brake booster, and a rebuilt steering gear at this time.

so last weekend i went over and pressure washed all the 37 years of gunk off the frame, and we built the motor, this is what we have now.

this Saturday i hope to hear it fire up:ear so now back to your motorcycle talk

A place that serves crawfish near the Sports Museum on Lakeland Drive in Jackson. They do a pretty good job too. They are more consistent with their flavoring and salting than some of the other places around here.
