Looking at a possible opportunity to move to the area and know nothing about it. Whats the feeling of the place like? We are not big city people and I get the feeling that Jeff City isn't big city kind of place. Would like to get a place with a shop, some land to shoot and keep the chickens for not a whole ton of $$. Doable around there? Lemme know what's up guys.

Definitely doable and some nice riding south of there . .

Buddy just bought a cabin 30 miles south, 3 bedrooms, nice place on 40 acres for around 160k. Fwiw

Jeff city is a good place,Not near as much traffic as Columbia ,but only 30 miles south. The taxes and cost of living is very reasonable compared to just about any where! Gas is 2.99 a gallon today. Lots of small acreages around to have ypour chickens on. I would definately stay out of Boone county ,its very restricted! PM me if you want to know more,I'v lived here a long time.

As far as riding goes, rolling hills, bottom land levvee;s, gravel roads every where. Taller hills to the south, creek crossings and a little bit of history here and there. Cost of living pretty decent compared to the rest of the country.

Sounds Jeff City is just your sort of place. Definitely fly out and take a look around. Rolling hills, not very crowded, close to the Lake of the Ozarks if you like boating on huge lakes. Mark Twain National Forest is nearby. Southern Missouri, Northern Arkansas are probably motorcycle heaven. Kansas City and St. Louis are about 2 hours away, if you get the urge to go do big city stuff, say a football game or a concert or what have you.
