2017 will be the 25th anniversary of D2D.
As part of this "gathering" Team Pterodactyl and the Gruvers will be taking this opportunity to dedicate a new monument to honor our fallen riders.

Game plan (as of today) is that the dedication will be held on Saturday,
June 17, 2017. We will shoot for 1:00 (AK time).

Griz will be making an appearance as will KHuddy.
(Please don't let that scare you away)
More info will be shared on this thread and at D2D.
    Stay tuned.

These shots were taken several years ago.
Time and weather has decimated the original tree so with the design expertise of DapMan and the handiwork from Mark907 and Walter from Advanced Powder Coating ...... we will recreate it! IMG_0356.jpg

Gotta love the ADV salute in that last shot.
    The "locals" will love it.

A Black Spruce is a general indication that the area has been swampy for at least 1000 years. The D2Tree is an iconoclast for sure.

What are the chances of someone bringing a vehicle capable of hauling the tree back to Anchorage? The Tree could be cut into manageable pieces (chainsaw needed too) and then stored until it can be used for projects to be determined. For instance, it could be used to make a perpetual plaque to recognize past Gruvers or D2D accomplishments. I'm sure there are better ideas, but we'd better preserve the resource while we can.

There were two gas stations in Eagle last year, I used the one just before you get to town, it is rustic but works, take cash

Not all that sure that much remains of the original tree. DapMan and I (hopefully others) are heading up there over the Memorial Day weekend to "plant" the new memorial and we will ascertain the situation at that time. We will reclaim what might be left.

Just a heads up for those following this thread:

We will be passing the hat at the banquet to recoup the cost of the building the new memorial.

DapMan and I have been on this project since January and things are progressing nicely.
Action Graphics has created a great design and handed off the art work to the steel man.
Mark and Walt (Adva ($$) out the following:

    Purchase the steel
Labor to plasma cut the design
    Labor/materials for names engraving
    Concrete/lumber for the base
Hopefully a little help with fuel for the initial install.

I want to be up front with this and throw in an early plea for all attendees to rat-hole an extra fiver to help cover the cost.
52 days and counting down the days till D2D25.

Hey Keith... at the last planning session we talked about you and some redi-mix, and the consensus was that we'd need to build you a serious tank bag. That's as far as we got. Back to you soon. :thumb

Truck it is! But I could always use another tank bag.
