Hey Grizzzly, the Socorro area is all new for me, so anything you have in mind for an easy day of riding has my attention. I would enjoy checking out some of the canyons west of your father's place and the roads east of the river. We cut off the north loop of the Jornada ride due to fuel limitations. You had mentioned that area having lots of roads and trails. I'm ready to go whenever you are.

I ride a Triumph Tiger 800 and love to ride in the dirt as much as anybody. Lucky for me, I live in New Mexico where there are thousands of miles of dirt roads to ride.

Monticello seems to have become a popular place for "adventure" riders in - or coming to - New Mexico. It is a beautiful little creek canyon that was a sacred spot for the Apache Indians way back when. The town of Monticello is a peaceful little town with historic adobe buildings and small family farms.

In my opinion, the parade of jeeps, ATVs and off road motorcycles is ruining this canyon. If you want an "adventure," take any one of hundreds of dirt roads in the area to visit ghost towns, hot springs, archeological sites and amazing, lonely vistas. If you need suggestions, PM me.

People I've talked to who live in Monticello agree with me. Motorcycles and 4 wheelers are disturbing the peace, wreaking havoc on the natural ecosystem and bringing noise and pollution to this lovely little place.

How about we let that eco-system rest and renew and take the internal combustion engines elsewhere?
