Nice to see others getting a chance to ride in some of my favorite spots. The ride up Palomar is definitely one of the prettiest and there are several different options for getting up and down the mountain including a fun dirt route on Nate Harrison Grade.

Next time you come down, make sure that you hit Julian or Santa Ysabel and get some Apple Pie. The roads to there are great and the pie can't be beat. :D

The top ride attraction to do is to ride to the mountains and play in the snow and then ride all the way down to the beach and dip your feet in the ocean or go surfing all on the same day. When you do that, you understand why people love San Diego.

Winter was always a great time for some good riding (and camping :evil) in the Anza Borrego SP back in the 80's Does anyone remember the hill climb outside of Ocotillo wells? Is it still there?

I saw the partial dirt route that is Harrison Grade, but being that I was just on an "R" and the rental agreement was specific about "no dirt", I had to avoid it. :cry

Originally I was going to leave via E. Grade towards Lake Henshaw, but my work schedule extended enough into Saturday that I was running out of daylight so I just ran back down S. Grade, which wasn't really much of a burden or disappointment. :lol3

Sure! I don't think they're as good as the ones posted, but here are 7 more second-string photos that are good enough, and not complete repeats of what I already posted. :D Enjoy!

Wow, you were on the roads I was driving on(in a car) while I visited my 'ol girlfriend(from the mid 70's, who now lives in Del Mar) for Thanksgiving. We spent a day in Julian, picked up apple & pumpkin pies.
Barrago & the Salton Sea were kewl, I'm hoping to return in the spring or early summer and buy a bike and ride it back to NJ, via the PCH, up to Washington and make a right for about six weeks
