that is pure engineering porn right there
Iris has just picked some pictures of Berlin and Frankfurt railway station via google. I seem to be wrong with both guesses. It's surely not Frankfurt! There are buildings like that in our gouvernment-quarter at Berlin, but this only a guess, too ... been there once and only passed these buildings on a boat on the Spree-river.
More regards, Bambi
Correct on Germany - Its in Stuttgart - I havent been there, but architecture looks inspiring...
Stuttgart, Neue Messe
The Neue Messe Stuttgart, on the Filder Plain, is the exhibition centre of Stuttgart, the state capital of Baden-Württemberg
some of our best friends live at Stuttgart but we haven't visited them there for about 3 years. Only met them every year at a vintage bike-race where they use be on the starting grid. So we don't loose contact totally ...
Some years back we've been to Stuttgart every year for a harvest-run with our Brit-bikes. We should take every effort to do so again ...
Kind regards, Bambi
The new triple clamps just back from machining and anodize. All fits together nicely. I cant wait to install them. The bike should be back with its new 6 gal gas tank by this weekend hopefully. Then install these and take a few more pics before sending the front wheel out for rebuild with new hub.
jesus , i cant cope any more this is to much bike porn Jimmy cant wait to see them on and the new tank installed
OK so it is weekend, I cant wait to see new pic posted!!
I presume that the gold-coloured item between the top triple clamp and the handlebar clamp is a steering damper?
That's correct - Scotts steering damper
Ok, just test fitted the new triple clamps to the old KTM forks. Fit is good. I should get the bike back tonight with new tank (being polished as we speak) and then will install these new parts.
Here's some pics of the test fit...
Very pretty, I can't wait to see the tank.
Oh and thanks for posting the pics so all us in Australia can see them properly.
After a years wait (and well worth the wait!), the new tank is here. Absolutely Gorgeous
I provided the foam mock-up and bike and Evan Wilcox improved on it and made it a reality. He is truly one of the few masters in the world able to do this kind of work.
We agreed that Evan can make this tank for others now that he has the templates and can reproduce it. Call him and get on his wait list if desired. For any future SC3 builds we do - this will be the tank we install.
It was a busy weekend picking up the bike and tank, and installing the new front end parts. I still need to route the dual gas lines and install the petcocks, but its getting there.
Heres just the tank. Many more pics to follow after I get the last parts on the bike...
Looking good Jim! Can't wait to see the bike again!!
Hey Ramon - Thanks. The bike will be at the Quail Gathering May 4th in case youre going. Lots of details to complete before that, but it should be ready.
I'll be there, for sure!
Look good! I had a look at Evan Wilcox website.. and his asking price for custom tank is :eek1 I'm gonna have to pass and build my own one.
But thanks for inspiring me to do my project..
That tank is the stuff.
Jim, what's the offset on the triple clamp, and dare I ask how much it would be for me to get one like it? :eek1
The wait to see that tank was sure worth it!!! Can't wait to see it on the bike!! Tank alloy and thickness?
I took a panel-beating class with Evan Wilcox -- he's a remarkable craftsman, pretty much self-taught, and a very good teacher. Quite a nice guy, too.
