Hi everyone! The next day we did the main point of our trip - we drove through the Stelvio Pass (Passo dello Stelvio), "greatest driving road in the world" according to British automotive show Top Gear. This car pass is the highest in Italy and the second highest in Europe, built in the period from 1820 to 1826 years and consists of 60 hairpins, 48 of which are numbered from the north. This is a Mecca for bicycles and motorcycles. The maximum height of 2757m, our Max drove very difficult, very large height, and there are all passing motorcycles made very strange sounds:ear MUST see!

After the Stelvio, driving along the Lake Como, we arrived to our friends villa at Lake Maggiore. And at once began a heavy rain and hail. The next day we planned to spend on the lake, take a trip to its famous islands, but was again heavy rain and our friends offered to take us by car to the station, so that we can go by train to Milan to see the Duomo. So we did. Duomo - the fourth largest church in the world and the world's largest building made of marble. It is decorated with more than 3,000 marble statues, decorative carvings on the incomparable marble, stained glass windows. Very beautiful!

Near the Duomo, is located Galleria Vittorio Emanuele - the oldest shopping mall in the world. In the center of galleries on the floor is paved with a mosaic of Turin Bull. The unfortunate animal - there is a sign that if you stand one leg on the Bull eggs and turn around, there will be happiness and wealth. Just imagine what there is a hole in the floor! :eek1:D

Leaving the Alps and the lakes we headed south towards the Mediterranean, to the Genoa. When we moved into this famous port city, we were shocked by the huge number of two-wheeled vehicles, mostly the maxi-scooters, which drive all: teens, respectable ladiesand men in business suits, the policemen, the elderly, etc. In Genoa, we wandered through the narrow streets in the evening, it was pretty scary. In the daytime the old city is more attractive and interesting. But the port interesting at night.

We continued our journey and drove through the mountain streamers, along the Mediterranean coast came to the area of Five Lands (Sinque terre) - small and pretty villages on the coast. In one of them, Monterosso, we planned to spend almost all day, but because of the absolutely incomparable sea stayed there for 2 days. Impression only spoiled attitude of local residents to Moto tourists: entry to the village is prohibited to all vehicles (only to residents, taxis and service vehicles). Right at the entrance to the village is very little parking, but it is completely occupied by locals motorcycles and cars. Nearby there is a multilevel half-empty car parking, but they refused to put the motorbikes, even for a double payment. We saw five motor tourists from France, they were unable to find a free parking place, turned around and left. And we decided to stand on the street in a small busy parking. The next day we found at our Max fine for wrong parking - 23 euros!

And here again we returned to the lakes of Lombardy. Lake Garda! We fully circled around the lake, we stopped in the main city-Sirmione, it is located on a narrow peninsula, <st1:metricconverter w:st="on" productid="4 km">4 km</st1:metricconverter> long and is famous fortress Rocca Scaligera. We drove along the road of James Bond, with dark, narrow tunnels in the rocks (there filming a scene from "Casino Royale"). Visited the Gardaland, with a bunch of rides. In our opinion this is the most beautiful lake in all that we saw in Italy.

Next stop was Verona, a beautiful ancient city. In Verona, at the hotel reception said us that today in the Arena (third largest surviving Roman Amphitheatre) Concert of Deep Purple - almost at a run, we got to the Arena, the concert began only 5 min. ago, quietly bought tickets for 30 euros / piece. and watched the concert, sitting on the steps of the Arena, which nearly two thousand years. The concert was fantastic, but when they sang Smoke on the water, the musicians, I think, do shed tears themselves, because the entire Arena stood up and sang all together! The following day we inspected the city. But we had a bit worried because when we had just settled into the hotel our Max stopped to start up. We very hope that this is only the battery discharged, and not something more serious. In the morning we took the battery and brought it to the nearest petrol station with a service and left it to charge. Thank God, the problem was really a discharged battery.

    Phenomenal story in pictures!

A trip that makes us North Americans envious!

Enjoy the next trip! I spent a day in Croatia and would have liked to spend more. It was beautiful even though it was February.
