Paved roads were flooding as well. This was on Hwy 12 in UT heading from Arches to Bryce canyon. Guess my Ultra is a "Mud bagger" now.
Too bad we missed each other in Arches, would have been fun to meet and chat.

well I guess I will quit bitching about the couple of inches of rain we got in South FLA yesterday that ruined my plans to ride out in the farmlands!!!! It might be dried out by the time you get back down here!! Poker Run to Key West this week looks like it might be a little wet!!!........but nothing like you are seeing!! Enjoying the pics and videos!! Stay safe and it seems you are making some good choices on the bypasses!!!

If you end up in Central Illinios on the way back let me know.....still have a bunch of friends and family up there that can help you out with a place to crash!!!

:clap:clapHey Doug, I might be jumping the gun with the title but I got faith in ya.:clap:clap

You are coming into hot springs country. Nice places out on the east side. Nice view on top of the Steeins Mountain. Not sure of the condition of the washboard road, but you plane out at about 60mph on a bike w/ 2 wheels. It wanted to rattle out my dash board in my pickup.:eek1:eek1
Nice cool conditions in the Willamette Valley, the end of the Oregon Trail, on the other side of the Cascade Mountain range, a little north of where you might be going.
Offer is still good on some beers in Corvallis:freaky
We got dam good beer here, good place to pub craw.....Beavers are back in town:wink::wink:...eye candy...don't lose your dark sun glasses.:D:D:D
I would go trolling the bars with you but I have been told in order to do good at trolling, you need good bait.:lol3:lol3:lol3 you will be better off with out me.:wink::wink:

Good to hear you made it up to Battle Mountain without incident.

Saturday I finally gave in and tore my clutch apart and swapped half my friction disks with dad so we could get his bike on the road again. We made it to Vegas yesterday where parts will be arriving to rebuild his clutch correctly then we will be heading up towards Utah.

Where did you end up having the problems between McDermitt and Denio? I wasn't sure if you'd have issue with the little gullies or not, our biggest issue was the steep switchback and the rocky climb, well downhill for us. Hopefully you at least beat our 5 hour time thru there...

    Day 23

My rear tire was getting pretty thin, so I headed to Richfield, UT to the Honda dealer to see if they would swap the tire.

It was a bit cloudy, but no rain yet. I got to Jorgensons Honda, & they said yes, I could pull the wheel off in the parking lot,

and they would swap it for only 15.00, which I thought was a great deal. I also bought oil there & did a oil change while I was there.

I was in the parking lot with all the other ATV's :)

I then headed south & west towards Beaver. The guys at the shop warned me not to take the TAT trail over the mountains, as one guy said 'whith all this rain, I wouldnt take a 4x4 over it right now'

So I headed down to another pass. I got there, & there were some folks on ATV's. I asked them how the trail was, & said I wanted to go over it.

They all looked at the bike, started laughing, & suggested I find another route.

So I went over the pass on pavement. Good thing too, because as I got near the top, it started to rain like a cow pissing on a flat rock. And kept it up until I got to Beaver, where I got a room & proceeded to

try to get all my stuff dry. AGAIN! I'm pretty damn sick of the rain by now.

I talked to Casey, who I met in Moab, who was north of me in the desert. I suggested meeting in Baker NV the next day.

    Day 24

I headed over to Baker on a small paved road. it was a very empty road, only saw a couple of cars on it. I got to Baker, & we stayed

at Whispering Elms RV & motel. It was a really nice place, with nice folks running it. Baker doesnt have much, a store/cafe run by a woman who

was weened on a sour pickle, she was miserable, & wanted to share her good fortune. Silver jacks had good food tho, and the Elms has a bar.

The next day it rained, all damn day long. So I took a day off. Finally, the next day it was a bit dryer, but still cloudy.

Casey & I took off to the border about 10 miles away, he decided to ride the TAT with me for a couple days. I was glad, as then I'd have someone to help push if I got stuck :)

The TAT started out nice enough

but as we got lower in the valley, it went to shit fast!

I got thru a few wet spots, then got stuck as it got worse. Casey went on ahead to see if it got better, but as the valley got lower it actually got worse.

So I decided to turn around. Easier said than done! This crap was slicker than snot on a doorknob!
