and I'm ready to go out and buy myself a vintage 2-stroke Husk, an Econoline van, drive out to southern California, and get dirty. What a great, great film. When it started off I was afraid it was going to be corny but I was wrong. It was so much fun watching these guys battling it out with whatever they had built and some of the homemade "safety" gear they were wearing. It was also refreshing to not see all the eXtreme branding and energy drink logos everywhere with fireworks and flood lights. Just a much more visceral and enjoyable experience. Even the girlfriend watched a whole 33 minutes of it, which is saying a lot.

It's still on Hulu for free if anyone hadn't seen it yet, but I'm guessing I'm the last person on ADV who hadn't.

Yep, great flick. If you haven't yet, check out "The Endless Summer", too.

That's the surfing documentary Bruce Brown directed before On Any Sunday, right? I'll add it to the list.

Buy yourself a 250 2 stroke and go amateur MX or short track racing. It's an awful lot like that.

On Any Sunday 2 is really fun to watch too. Not as "classic" as 1, but still really enjoyable with profiles on Bruce Penhall, Kenny Roberts, Bob Hannah and some really wacked out Japanese speedway racing on a paved oval.

Well if you liked " On Any Sunday you may also enjoy a film that was done by "Peter Starr" which is called "Take It To The Limit".
Then again if you like flat track racing then you might like "Thrill is On" which mostly about that type of racing.
I myself wasn't all that thrilled about "On Any Sunday 2" as it was not done by "Bruce Brown" , but it did still have some good stuff in it.
And by the way one of "Bruce Brown's" sons is doing another movie about motorcycle racing and as far as I heard it will be called "On Any Sunday, Again. I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

Every one has their first time. :lol3

It is a great feel good movie. I own them all.
There is a new one out called "Why we Ride" It is sort of the same thing.
But, nothing compares to the original OAS...

Maybe I shall throw it in the DVD tonight. It has been awhile.

There's another good one out there that not everyone picks up on - One Man's Island. Documents a man's decision to sell everything and live a life dream of riding the Isle of Man TT after some health issues changed his future. Pretty much produced and filmed by him and one film maker I found it pretty interesting. Mark Gardiner is the rider's name.

And I'll second "One Man's Island", and third Dust to Glory. Both great flicks that make you just want to get out and RIDE!

I'd love to but I don't have the money for a spare bike, unfortunately not that mechanically inclined, out of shape, and don't know of any amateur MX tracks that offer lessons. Seriously though, it looks like a ton of fun.

Nice. Thanks for the suggestions. I will check out both "Dust to Glory" and "One Man's Island". I'll check to see if they are offered streaming anywhere.

Checked for 'One Mans Island' on Netfix, Hulu, and Amazon. No joy.

With the modern trend for many public libraries to maintain large DVD movie collections, you may be able to have your local library locate a copy of One Man's Island or other flick and do an interlibrary loan.

Back in the 80s even, I was able to track down obscure boatbuilding plans books through my library and even had one sent from a library in Enid, OK to here in central FL - for free.

    Might be worth a try.
