Still way more than a bicycle confuser ! But I'm sure it satisfies your need to have things the way you want them :-) I have the same issue though my tastes aren't as nice as yours. I also just changed my final drive on my hot rod GS went from 33/11 to 31/11 stock engines more or less an S with some racier cams. it's got a GSA transmission and I'm wanting it a little lazier:lol3 as it's not getting a sidecar anytime soon.
Unlike you and Bombar I'm anti 75-90 in that generation FD those big ball bearing are from the 90w era http://www.schaefferoil.com/universal-gear-lube.html
But lets not argue about it OK :-)

The main reason I went with this one is that I can see it without my reading glasses! My bicycle computer I can only read when I get back and put my glasses on. Old sucks!:becca

I'm in trifocals, I'm getting so I hate working on stuff that needs to have one see what he's doing ! That old saw about "had I known I was going to live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself " certainly rings true !

LOL, my cable modem went out a week ago (miss me?) and it was replaced today. The installer had to record the tiny #'s from the tiny labe onto his worksheet. He took a pic with his phone & then enlarged it so he could read them!

Bob - don't sell! Dave - finish your project! I don't wanna be the last dumbass fooling with these things:baldy By the way one more unintended problem - the cruise don't work! May have figured a way to fix though. Any other ideas welcome!

On my 04 K1200gt the cruise and speedo ran thru the absi the annoying power brake a very sharp master BMW tech knew how to leave the pump and computer in place (brake lites quit) and keep the cruise and speedo circuits working. But I think your out of luck.

The speedo pick up is a magnet that runs off a toothed gear on the crown gear - maybe I could use the magnet on an external pick up, maybe on the rear brake rotor? Can always plug the hole in the final drive. As Ridn3 said the cruise does not know how fast you are going just how fast the impulses are. Opinions?

Certainly worth experimenting with though electronics are not my strong suit, could the abs pickup double up and send a signal to the cruise also ?

Took a trip to Boone, NC this weekend with Ridn3. This was my first extended ride with the new lower gearing and it is really nice. Unlike Ridn3 I went down the big road on Friday (65-75mph) most of the way, and still got 33mpg. This is about 2.5 less than with the stock gearing but more than acceptable. With both tanks I still have a 280mi range. Came back up the Blue Ridge Parkway on the return trip and seem to have gotten much better but have not actually checked. The lower gearing makes the rig feel almost like an automatic. Once in 5th only need to down shift is if someone in front causes you to slow way down (below 40) Coming back on the parkway on Sunday stayed in 5th with speed variations of probably less than 40 to about 55 without feeling the need to shift. 50mph=2800rpm, 60mph=3200rpm, 70mph=3900rpm

What do you suppose is going on with Ridn3 ? I mean the RT and Escort should move thru the wind pretty nicely, why isn't his mileage better ?

Draper keeps stealing my gas. That's why his mileage is good and mine isn't.: )

Based on his latest #'s he gets really good gas mileage at 55 and under, 37+. My R11/hannigan gets 34+ at 55 and under but drops to 31/32 at 65/70 with the same 37/11 FD. I have a 5 speed tranny and he has a 6 so it makes sense he should get a little better since my rpm's are higher. His escort with the shape of his convertible top sits higher than my custom top on the Hannigan.

That speaks to a taller back wheel a 15" wheel adapter and a 165/80/15 tire or maybe not that would only be 1" taller than a 175/55/17, the R12 injectors seem thriftier on my single but even though it they worked great in my hack they weren't any more economical. I think that anything that made the sidecar rig run better caused faster riding.
