Isn't that 2nd and 4th Sundays?
I'll have a dual sport soon enough; so we'll definitely get an '07 Alma ride in.
You going to Holt this coming Sunday? Never been, but I'll be in KC and can do it. Want to meet there or meet somewhere near your place and ride together?
Truth be told, the FJR is an awesome long-distance scooter. Did an IronButt back from Daytona Bike week - 1259 miles in 20 hours (with an hour stop for dinner). Not too fun on the creek crossing though.
www.head2holt.com, I believe.
McB and Rockhound, I've probably seen you guys riding around. Seems like everytime I go out, I run across a V-Strom.
So, if you see a guy on this:
Wearing one of these,
give me an Adv salute, so I know it's you.
Sounds like fun, but I have a harescramble in Merwin that weekend.
You must have dropped by while I was out for a couple of hours getting a car towed in. That or I was out back working. I have to lock the front to keep all the strays from next door from getting in! If the OPEN sign is on, I'm there! As for the hosers at Cafe Racer, that's just more of their passive aggressive BS that they seem to have an abundance of! They know I'm there...I live there. I just don't feel it necessary to check in with them. The weather will be better and the offer stands for all you scooter trash-types when you're in the area. Heck, we've often been known to cook out on Sat evening and feed the whole gang!
Sorry boys but I will have to miss this time as I will be in Arkansas ripping up the roads starting Thursday.
If I remember I'll think about you all...
Holt was postponed, cold weather I assume.
You can come up here or we can meet there. It can be twenty miles on blacktop or sixty miles on gravel.
The tenderloins are pretty good, it's mainly just an excuse to get out and meet people.
I'm heading to Holt this Sunday. Anyone from S. of the metro want to ride up? Or anyone else?
Im planning on going for now depending on the weather. I dont mind the cold and rain but most other folks tend to shy away from it.
I plan on heading up. Going to ride up with katbeanz.
I wish one of you guys would come buy my KLR.
Only 660 miles, 1 month old.
I did the 1st oil change @ 50 miles.
Gardner - Buell XB12X
As Ken Kesey would say, "You're on the bus".
06 KLR 650 Roeland Park, KS Suburb of KC
Radical, when did you get the FJR?
stopped by Shawnee one too many times huh?
I can't own bikes like that anymore, lawyers cost too much.
did ya get the automatic?
Cold..........what cold. It is going to get up to 56. So the ride up will most likely be about 40-45. Not too bad.
An FJR had been on my mind since the re-routed the airflow in the '06 model to handle the engine heat. A dealer in Georgia had one offered at cost less holdback. I had an offer for the KLR at what I had in it. Just...couldn't...resist.
No on the auto. Bad write-ups in the cycle magazines, plus I like traditional shifting.
As for the twist of the wrist, back from Daytona in 20 hours, and I stopped for 1 hour for a nice dinner. For 2 hours across Tenn. and never got below 90 mph, usually above 100 mph. Need to get heated grips and put on the laminar lip I purchased for it.
I do need a 650 dual-sport to have some off-road fun.
From O.P. to Holt is 43 miles, fer doG's sake...from their website..."far enough to make it a ride"
I used to race Hare Scrambles at Holt, in the early 70's. Still have a 3rd place trophy around here somewhere.
Damn I'm old.
