I hope not, not sure either. If Ralph Wayne's is done, maybe it is time to look into doing another one.

Anyone in the KC area know a cheap place I can get a 17" Honda Sabre rear wheel machined? I could machine it, but do not have access to a lathe big enough. When I was at KU in the ME dept, they used to have a big lathe there, but it's been a while. I am doing a build and need to machine the drive hub area a bit to get the wheel centered.

    Thanks,
    Jim

You could try K and L machine shop in Claycomo. 816-454-0932
Not sure they can do it, but if they can't they can definitely suggest someone.

Went riding with several friends from Fort Scott Saturday and discovered the Two Sisters Cafe in Kincaid closed for good last Saturday. We kinda planned our trip around our stomachs! Ate there with Eddie and Dirt Farmer last spring, had a great time.

Saturday fuel is hard to find in this area of Linn and Anderson County sometimes, card reader at the Co-op in Kincaid & Centerville doesn't always work,,,,,,, getting a 4.3 Clarke fuel tank to help get me home.

    Hey all,

I was referred here by Charlie. I'm from Wichita, KS, and I'm brand new to motorcycling. I just completed my BRC this past weekend and got my M endorsement today. I have a new Honda CRF250L and about 20 hours experience on a motorcycle. I am an avid bicycler (mix of road and dirt, thus the draw to dual sport). I'm planning to hit dirt this Saturday for the first time on my Honda. I don't know anyone else personally that rides, but I am looking forward to meeting people in the area that can teach me a thing or two.

You need to also check out Backroads Touring - Kansas. http://www.backroadstouring.org/kansas/index2.htm You should check out the Flint Hills Stampede.

Haha thanks for the suggestion; I am actually on there as well. I recognized your username. With this being a massive forum, I've found a small (backroads), medium (ridedualsport), and large variety. The more connections the better though - it's great finding people with similar interests, especially since no one in my circle shares this one.
Once I'm competent, I'd like to meet and greet some people nearby.

Hey Casey! Glad you took my advice. These are some really good guys here on this forum. As for competence, I've been riding since I was 14. I'm now 63 (you do the math) and I am still working on the competence part...ha. Anyway, enjoy the sport, it'll change your life forever. As they say, it gets in the blood.

Welcome to the nice (yet odd) huge site. It's a different, but cool, place.

Competent in the sense of "comfortable leaving my local neighborhood." A short trip to the face plant forum will knock some sense into anyone who's feeling over-confident :D

Yokomo aka Savage! You have inspired me to believe there are very worthwhile places to find around Kansas, and I'm looking forward to confirming that. This Saturday, I am planning to do my first real ride. I doubt I'll get far from the city, but I will at least hit dirt (and start doing practice drills to get a feel for the new surface).
