I'm starting to piece together some of the Santa Fe Trail Association's local chapters tour routes. I have Marion, McPherson, Rice and Barton counties. I'm sure someone has translated the local tours into tracks, but I can't find them. I will hopefully make some tracks in Base Camp in next couple of weeks and post them up. As this builds up in the next year, I may start a thread over in Central Mapping.

Until I went to Black Jack ruts up by Baldwin a few weeks ago, I was always looking for wheel tracks as ruts. Now that I know what to look for, I'm impressed. At Fry's Ruts below, you can see the in the middle of the picture. They look like terraces.

I've done all the Santa Fe Trail Geocaches in Kansas up to Great Bend. From here out, the western part of the trail will be done on overnighters and longer trips.

There are several in Kansas City Missouri, some that I will probably get this winter on bad weather days and go thru some of the museums.

Chili day, with the GoodEarth's Romas fresh from the garden. It's really more like very good stewed tomatoes with meat and beans.

I'm sitting on the back deck fixing breakfast, listening to all the loud pipes heading to Cassoday.

WR for me, heading the opposite direction.

Have some good pictures to post of the Santa Fe Trail in KC that was next to the photo tag yesterday.

Obligatory sign shot, touring SE Kansas for a few days. My GPS got me tangled up in the refuge just east of this town, wasn't sure I would get back out. The fully laden 990 was a not wanting to cross the rock creek crossing I was routed down, after a bridge out on the previous routing.

Miles of very Dusty gravel ridden, good times.[IMG]

Watching the Mississippi River roll past while reading "Mississippi River Companion" a guide to the National ScenicRiver. The book describes the 72 miles of river national park. I wish I was floating the river now.

I can't ride my motorcycle today because of a wedding. Who plans a wedding over Labor Day weekend?

Tell us where all you went today.

Toronto State Park is not a bad place to camp.

Left out of Derby, rode gravel pretty much all the way to medicine lodge, then back to Wichita area.

Just east of Latham right now. You guys probably all know this bridge, it was a cool find.[IMG]

About midday on Wed last week, I realized I don't have any Labor Day riding plans---not normal for me. I looked around online for any local invite options, but none to be found. Figured I might do my "usual" and point the F800GS towards AR for 3 days. Late on Friday, my friend, bird man, called me to say he'd enjoy spending a day exploring Osage County and all the minimum maintenance roads.

I fired up the laptop and in about 2.5 hours, I had a track ready to go. 125 mile loop of good stuff...I hoped.

The track turned out GOLDEN. It was a great day of KS dualsport riding on some very remote roads and even a little bushwhacking through some over-grown roads and a closed bridge. We also explored an Atlas ICBM missile silo.

I cleaned up my actual tracks to remove the noise and the 3 spots that didn't work out. I also tweaked a couple spots using intel gained on the ride. I encourage you guys go ride this loop. The attached track is solid!

@TroyWolf we covered some of the same ground this weekend. I went cross country from Emporia up to Burlingame. I wanted to find the old Boy Scout 50 mile Santa Fe Hike from Burlingame to Council Grove.
