kawasaki er5 engine f*cked?

    i'm considering parting it out. is there anyone who's trying to find parts for this bike? if I can make 700 bucks off parts the rest is going over the counter at crash prizes.

    would be lovely to help others restore their bike

    Don't know about all that other damage, but it looks like the ER500 is based on the EX500, and it has a serious design flaw in the lubrication system. If you drop one, the oil pump loses prime, and when you pick it up, and start it, it will run long enough without oil pressure to cause serious engine damage. Several members of ex-500.com have had engines destroyed that way. It doesn't always destroy the engine first time, as many EX500s have been dropped many times. But it does do some damage every time.

    well now you tell me... :)

    if it doesn't get sold any time soon I might check into the details and inspect the motor, but I doubt I'll my damage report will be more detailed than a trained mechanic.

    valves, chain, tensioner, and maybe piston segments. most of which just to be sure.
