I sure hope the Yamaha Super Tenere sells well in the US despite the recession and that Kawasaki pays attention to some of the mods done to the Versys.

It would be nice to eventually get a modern decently powered, middle weight adventure bike for folks whose blood runs 'green'.

The KLR is cool, but modern it is not.

Not that the Versys can't be an adventure bike. But some assembly is required (though, thats half the fun of it)

    Hi guys..

here's my Versys that is slowly morphing into an adversys in readiness for a round the world trip next year..

I'm saving hard, but tempering that with what I need to spend to sort out the bike and paperwork and... well just stuff I need to do !

The bike has had a few minor mods so far..

I'm off work in August and plan to get the bash plate and some crash bars sorted..Look at fitting an alternative shock, mount some spotlights and the pannier racks .. I have a set of DARR BOX ali panniers and have fitted a radiator guard.. upper and lower mudguard off a KTM950SM, a set of brush guards, heated grips, an MRA screen and added some addition foam to the seat to lift it a bit more for my extra long legs!

    Heres the progress so far..

I'm running maxxis supermotard tyres at the moment to see how they manage with mileage ... but got to think about some more off road orientated rubber.

    Hey there.
Does anyone have a list of exhausts that fit (can relatively easily be made to fit) the Versys, but have the exhaust higher up the bike; so it is capable of water-crossings, etc.

Sorry mcmann, for putting you down using the term 'my AdVersys'. This isn't meant as an offense, but I think, it should only to be used by kajj:
    http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=766979&page=14
I lead you to start reading and especially looking at the pics near to the actual end of the build-thread to show you and all the Versys riders what a nice bike your's could be. That it's a good one seems to be undeniable!
Sorry, I'm such a great fan of kajj's build and I think, that Kawasaki would be wise to copy it (and pay him for the idea!!!).
    Kind regards from Germany, Bambi

gee, that's a good idea, but is Kawasaki going to pay Tony, me, and all the rest too?

i happen to like Kajj's build, and it is very nicely executed, but hardly new ground when it was built.

Thanks for the comments guys. And yes Kawasaki should design something lika our builds. But I can hardly get all the credit for the idea.
I am a big fan of jdrocks gravel runner and most of the major things I have done have been copied from his build (forks, front wheel etc).
I just gave it my own touch.

Hey jd. Have you sold the V649hp? Whats next?
