Lost time I posted a ride report I got chastised for too many pix in one post so I'll break this down to a few posts. K?

I decided to take the day off as the weather network was promising the weekend was going to be nice.
I started my day by visiting my online buddy, jkelly. Turns out he's a Touratech rep in Atlantic Canada.

After an enjoyable conversation and a great cup of coffee, I hit the road for Advocate.

I love stopping to take a LOT of pictures, especially of old farm houses I find along the way.

This trip was about finding new roads and seeing what was at the end of them. Sometimes there is a payoff, but not always. I tend not to take pix of those. Just the

    good stuff.

Love old barns and colors as well. Unfortunately these are only dandelions, but they look good all fuzzy like.

    Another road less traveled.

I took a few minutes to look around the Bass River Museum. They certainly have some big machinery there. One piece looked like a KLR engine, complete with doohickey.

From there I found a "beach" where you replace the word sand with the word mud. It did look nice with the sun peaking out now and again.

    On the road again.

Here is an interesting formation along the Fundy Coast.

Here I am at Five Islands. As you can see by the pix, it's a stretch of 5 islands. Clever name what?

It's hard to see but there is Moose Island, Diamond, Long, Egg and Pinnacle Rock. Close enough to an island I suppose.

BTW, it was a VERY windy day.

Here is a fence where attached to every picked there was a bird house. Cool.

Same acenery, different location down the road.

Typical scenery for this part of Nova Scotia.

You never know what you'll find along the road. A decorative fence made of ironing boards. Remember those, ladies?

Off in the distance near Wharton, I saw some tractor tracks going up a hill and decided to see where they went. This was the view.

    And coming down the hill.

Thanks GB, sorry to bother you.

Next on the list was Cape D'Or, near Advocate. It's a bit out of the way but has a great view and a restaurant at the bottom of the hill.
I didn't try it but have heard it's fantastic.
    Dirt road going in.

    The view.

    The restaurant
    [IMG]

    Coming back down.

From there, I decided it was late enough in the day so I started looking for camping spots. I was going to "ninja" camp but couldn't find anything really good with fire wood. I don't need water, food, etc but I do like a nice fire at the end of the day.

I found Cape Chegnecto Provincial Park.
    http://www.novascotiaparks.ca/parks/cape-chignecto.asp

Here is where I met Tex. Tex was back to his old job of entering people into the computer. Remember the old theorem that a monkey hitting keys at random on a typewriter keyboard for an infinite amount of time will type the complete works of William Shakespeare? Replace monkey with Tex. It was actually funny as I wasn't in a hurry. I felt sorry for the guy when his hands started to shake. He felt so bad he said the wood was free.
WOOT! Nothing better than free wood.

I got to the camp site at the top of a hill. You were supposed to park your car, bring your stuff to the site as the camp sites were on trails. Since I have an off road capable bike, I rode in. With Tex's blessing of course.

My new baggage from Kirk (in the ADVrider vendors section) filled to the brim with woody goodness.

Not the best view but it was sheltered. I got to watch the other campers make trips back and forth to their cars. Yes I felt superior.

I'm enjoying my new Touratech catalogue.

Can you see my fire from space?

What was the temperatures like? I was hoping to be in that area this weekend but life got in the way. It has to be better than the 3C and rain/fog we are having here. Beautiful pics BTW.

The conditions depended on what you think is nice weather.

The weather report for the weekend was supposed to be 13°c on Fri and 8°c for Sat. I wasn't expecting 2°c. WTF?

I was warm all night but bolted out of bed in the AM as I heard rain drops. I don't like packing up when it rains.

Trail leading down to the ocean.

The sun was peaking out which made the lighting great.

I saw an old bridge footing and decided to investigate.

I found myself in Joggins. http://jogginsfossilcliffs.net/
"These magnificently exposed layers of rock reveal the world’s most complete fossil record of life in the “Coal Age” when lush forests covered Joggins and much of the

world's tropics, 300 million years ago."

Really cool building mimicking the rock formations in the cliffs.

And the it started to rain. I'm fine with rain but it wasn't supposed to rain so I didn't bother to treat my visor with repellant. That part sucked but I soldiered

    on.
Then I noticed the temp gauge.

And then it started snowing. That's 1.5°c
    [IMG]

I know it's not a really snowing pic but it's the best I could do without photochopping snow into the pic.

As I got closer to home, the weather got a bit warmer and took just more pix.

All in all a great ride and the weather didn't bother me at all.

I wonder how ol Tex is coming along with Shakespeare?

Great photographs! I rode from California to Newfoundland in 2004 and fell in love with the scenery of the maritimes.

What camera and post processing are you using?

    Keep up the great work!!!

Thank you. I would love to do a one way trip from NL to California and stay.
You must have had a fantastic trip.

I'm using a crappy Nikon D3000 and PP in Photoshop. Stitching is done in PTGui.

I did much of the same run a couple of years ago and was pouring water out of my boots! A lovely, though damp area, and well represented in your fine photos.

I know this is off topic but I've been trying to register at dualsport.ca for weeks and their forums are currently closed for new registrations. Any chance you can bring it up on their forums for me?

Very cool write-up. I love viewing pics of that area. Here in the Desert southwest it's beautiful, but not the most lush, green environment on the planet. Cheers!
