the part you're missing i guess is where you draw the same pay whether you're writing tix or camped out at the dunkin' donuts.

also, a number of the police have chimed in about "following orders" (paraphrased). that being the case you don't really need to demonstrate motivation, just do what you're told.

    This ^^^^

I used to be on a sportbike forum. The idiots would crash on public roads on Saturday group rides, then again on Sunday. Some of us would question "why did you crash, what can we learn from it"? They'd get all butt hurt. Nobody wanted to take responsiblity for the fact that if the motorcycle YOU are riding goes down, YOU crashed it.

We aren't talking left turners taking bikes out. We are talking running wide and going off the road, tucking the front, etc. We are talking RIDER ERROR. Yet the overwhelming response was "it wasn't my fault". Many of us responded "but you were riding the bike, how is it not your fault". Thus, we were not terribly popular.

Now, you take track day guys, or racers, they immediately dissect and learn from any and every crash, their own or those of others. Kinda separates the idiots from non-idiots quite quickly.

And the part you are missing is that it isn't a revenue operation if the city paying for the enforcement isn't making money on it. It's designed for another purpose - to elicit a desired response from motorists; to get them to voluntarily (or face sanctions) operate within the confines of the law.

'community' doesn't necessarily mean we agree. lots of people agree with the statement "cops are bastards", lots disagree. no big deal either way. the thing about community is it's ok to disagree, or express a minority viewpoint.

also- this is a fail thread, so the more disagreement the better.

Yeah, it's interesting how some "anti-politically-correct" types are trying to use "fireman" as some sort of statement, around here. They don't even realize it was the old red necks that would have kicked your ass for using it.

Sorry for the derailure of the topic. And no pics 'cause my interweb-fu sucks.

I had a 2000 Checker Board as well, my first Beemer. Should have kept that bike. It sounded great with the Two Brothers slip on.

:nod Pathetic! There are some in every group that are assholes, as demonstrated by ignorant comments.

These are usually the ones who scream for a cop at every turn.:deal

Sadly, even this group has its share of fools!

Of course not "most." But we should all be aware of the abuses; just as in other fields, abusive practices tarnish all. I believe that most LEOs are good folks; I don't believe they do as much as they could to weed out the arseholes. So we get this...
