Blood and Blue: Motorcycles, music and mayhem along the Mississippi

Day Three to the Dragon and Hwy. 129: The Harleys Lost Appeal
And it was here, of all places, that the Harley lost its appeal to me. Im not sure if it was the overpriced Harley store and the combination of sticker/tattoo/shirt messages I read there, or the fact that every bike off the road was a Harley. After seeing Any Given Sunday, and what can be accomplished when rider and bike are sufficient to handle each other and the terrain, the overpriced, overblown, overweight Harley begged the question: why?
It was then I realized I was meant to be on a café racer, with an electric starter, high pipes, a lightweight frame, and enough horsepower to get me where I want to go without waking up the neighborhood to do it. Weve found the Mississippi corn field version of the Dragons tail, and as soon as my rebuild with Thompson Customs and Racing is finished, youll find me there. ......"
Interesting perspectives in the blog
Them stretchy pants would probably melt real good like.
Naw, they would tear away real quick so the human hide could manage the slide.
She does comment about learning about the appropriateness of gear. I will drop her a note to tell her I posted her stuff here.
They don't work behind some face shields that have an anti-UV coating. Mine didn't, so I had a pair of prescription G-15 sunglasses made.
Oh puke. Shades of The Video Lady.
Vintage Customs with the Honda 160 cafe' build?
I would have to disagree.
How wonderful to see another budding motorcyclist. An in that not just one looking to get a chromed up HD or the loudest 600rr. So she moves in a circle where getting a CB160 going as fast as it can, or putting a rusted out CL350 back on the road is a thing of joy. We then become mentors, not to reshape based upon how we have become but to encourage her into a competent biker regardless of CCs, model and age. I hope we never tire of seeing the excitement of one changing their life against the flow of current standards, of becoming one in love with two wheels.
Oh wait.. sorry.. I forgot the "Confirmed Curmudgeon" part.. just forget what I wrote.
I'm absolutely thrilled to see someone make an unusual or unpopular choice in motorbikes. It's just not necessary to disparage bikes that aren't your flavor.
I agree. That said, I also understand the frustration with the unending harangue of the HD crowd. No, not all of them, but a loud percentage. I think HD makes some fine vehicles. Not for me, but they're fine. It's the unceasing chest beating I get weary of. Just effing ride and leave me alone.
Great parallel parking job.
There's a guy black guy around here with a aircooled GS1000R 4cyl in a sportster frame, he always wears a chrome brain bucket and a red bandana over his face
Two ways to accomplish that
is it me are the rear light very close to the back wheel??
And I'll have to AGREE with your disagreement. What she said made a lot of sense, and more power to her on her journey.
I'll leave the original grumbly post up for posterity. Just a kneejerk reaction to remembering the flamefest surrounding the Vid Lady...
Can't believe noone mentioned his visor being up. Unless I just missed it, woulnd't be the first time..
I saw no smiles in your post, so maybe you don't know why his visor is up.
That exhaust on the red bike looks a little smokey
Yup. Clearly it is a LITTLE smokey. If on the gas it would A LOT smokey.
A good training technique. Following one, if you see the road covered in smoke, get on the gas, if it disappears, get on the brakes.
