NC government plates. Probably either tire testing or something to do with road surface.

In most states road surfaces must supply a certain amount of traction.
If not, the state puts them on a list for re-surfacing.

A buddy has a 67 turtle top camper with a slightly modified engine. :evil

We took it down route 81 from Front Royal VA to Johnson City TN and back one weekend. We were doing 80 mph+ and passing everything on the highway! :eek1

Not a squid, one of my riding buddies, plenty of track days under his belt, just trying to help folks out coming the opposite direction, never know it could of been you he was trying to help out.

A guy just picked up a used engine from me driving a 'turtletop' from NC, towing a trailer with a garden tractor on it! Oh, and he had installed a TDI engine in it; sounded awesome!

I drove one of those things all over Australia.

Loved driving it, 80-85kph was typical cruise, and once with a big tail wind I got it way over 100kph. Felt like we were flying. It was a seemingly rare fuel injected motor with automatic transmission. Feel like the trans really helped the wrong side driving issue. No need to figure out how to shift with my left hand. Great little vehicle and only found out we'd burned some exhaust valves when we went to sell it right before leaving.

In Darwin we had some ears made to direct more airflow into the engine compartment. You can kind of see them here..

... defintely kept the oil temp down, but it was probably too little too late as I think the drive from Adelaide to Darwin is what did the motor in.

I'd love to own one again with a real motor, and better suspension. :ricky

If Killboy doesn't post some new photos, I'm going to resort to posting random motorcycle-related pix. I swear I'll do it. Don't push me, man... don't push me. I'll do it. I really will do it.

    Oh, the humanity!!!

Umm, welcome to winter, mountains of NC get cold, slayers stop coming, locals don't buy pics. Next pics he's likely to post are from his vacation in some nice, warm place.

Gap has salt/sand this time of year which means street bikes don't show, so KB is done til March/April.

The Gravel Dragon is still going strong, but no photogs or pirates to draw attention to it.
