I am becoming more and more intrigued with these. I see them around VIR where they build the US version of them. Interesting, Vely Interrresting

I really like the idea of these. Wish I could afford one.
I am curious though, is the helmet a legal requirement down there? And why place the headlights so far back they're impeded by the open wheels? Seems like they're there just to make it legal for the road, not to allow someone to drive it at night.

I've driven faster drag cars, but I've never driven something that just had the holy F'N CRAP THAT IS AWESOME factor.
And that was the older slower one. I can't imagine the insanity of having top speed with it now.
As for helmet, I think it might be required, there is NO windshield at all.
Although apparently you can add a windshield now, which is weird. Since it still probably wouldn't have body panels?
Too bad they start ~$60,000 here in the US with no frills and go way up from there...

As for the lights, they have to be a certain minimum distance from the ground, and if they were that high, and any further forward, they would be in the driver's sight line and interrupt the "smooth flow" of the front end. The lights were an afterthought that never got changed, and more form-over-function.

That's still a bloody good price for the performance you get out of it. (In Australia) You can spend that much on a top of the line Holden and it still wouldn't even hold a candle to the Atom

I'm rebuilding a couple old FSAE cars from my old team, one will be ~520lbs, with a 125hp GSXR motor, and street legal
Hmm. My Ducati weighs 400 and makes 150+ hp. And it's also street legal. And it's probably cheaper..........
I basically built them, so when it came time to make room in the shop, I got them for nothing
With the gearing in the FSAE cars and some good slicks, they'll outperform a bike with the same engine in acceleration and braking due to the low CG, and once the tires are hot, they'll hold up to 1.5G in the corners.
Take your Ducati to an autocross event and you'll be lugging around in first in the tight stuff.
Now that's only up to maybe 100mph, when you start running out of gear, so it's best to stick to the twisties.
I'll have mine geared up a bit more for a better highway RPM...
