The bash plate and the stainless steel throw over bag frames were made by a bloke who once owned a KLE, he removed them before selling his bike, I advertised a WTB and he contacted me.

Finding after market stuff for KLE's is difficult, it is probably easier to make your own stuff in most cases.

I just wish there was a larger fuel tank to fit them.

    As for tool kits-
I carry the stock kit plus some other odd spanners and a good supply of assorted cable/zip ties, including some long strong ones.
Puncture repair kit, pump and tyre levers.

I'm still modifying my kits for both my bikes as I find I need specific items, but I have them close to right now.

Everyone has different priorities so you will need to work out what you need as extras.

I've just come back from a two and a half week ride on my V-Strom, the KLE hasn't been ridden for almost three weeks, the KLE fired up instantly this morning.
    I love it :deal

    Hello!

I need some help with getting my handelbars off. I can't unscrew the four bolts that are on the bar clamps:

While trying to undo them I bent my allen key and a 10 wrench I used as a extension:censored::censored:

The bolts are still intact, no damage to the bolt heads. They are not rusted and I sprayed some wd-40 on them.
    ----------------------------------------

One more thing, did you grind off the control pins or did you drill out the bars? I grinded it down on the left side as it was plastic. On the throttle side it is metal and I am thinking of drilling a hole instead of grinding the pin. Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

P.S.: Posted this in 3 different topics!

    Holy thread resurrection.........

Just bought one myself. So far love it. Just waiting to fit a new stainless system (gotta grind the old one off as it's well rusted on)

I've just fitted some motech bars and will be looking for some heavier bar ends and some new foot pegs next :)

I got the motech bars from eBay, £130 iirc.

Exhaust is this weekends job as it looks to be a VERY wet one round here so may as well put some time into getting it done.

Struggling to find pegs I like/am prepared to pay for. I'll update when I do.

Just fitted cheap eBay KLR650 pegs, fitted straight on with no mods, they don't have springs but are a firm fit and the stock ones dont have springs anyway. They sit about 8mm higher.

Welcome to the family :clap You have a nice looking bike, motech bars fit the KLE nicelly.

As for the bar ends and footpegs here is what I have done:
-Ordered a set of gold bar ends from here
-And modified a universal set of enduro pegs (pictures), looking into getting a set of SW-Motech footpegs as soon as money allows.

I hope he dose post, that would be some interesting reading material:ear as I am undergoing the same thing, just with WP43 forks.

    Edit:
Has anyone considered adding a lube nipple to the head stock tube to lube the steering head barrings and stem regurally without the need to remove the top clamps and seal?

Just drilling a hole in the head stock tube, threading it and screwing in this nipple. They are widely used in heavy industry and in really dirty areas so I would imagine that they could work just fine on a motorcycle.

Well, the bars and exhaust are now on. WHAT a difference the exhaust makes, really night and day.
The bars came in handy on my inaugural run out over some local green lanes, I dropped it at, well, 0.5mph, not a single mark :)

I think I really need to try some more air in the front forks, as it isn't confidence inspiring either on or off road, too soft by far. I would love it to have another few inches of ride height too, and I definitely have to make/buy a better bash guard (any ideas anyone?)

    Obligatory pic:

can anyone report on the usefulness of the MRA touring screen? For long haul runs I kinda like the idea.

That exhaust look fantastic. For the forks, I have used 0,7 bar in each fork. It worked great for a mixed riding I did. I don't have any idea if the touring screen helps as my KLE allready came with Puig high screen so I have never ridden with the original one.

For the bash plate there are 3 options as far as I can think of:
    1. SSS Racing plate from South Africa: http://www.sss-racing.co.za/spdetail.aspx?spid=497 (it looks nice, but shipping would probably kill the deal)
    2. Adapt a plate from a different bike
    3. Make one yourself; I like this idea the most

Nice work, pipe looks similair to mine. I have the same crash bars on order and I have ordered some stainless steel brak lines. Also have a quote for suspension work and considering how much I will do.

    Kepp the story's coming.

The one thing I wish this bike had is more ground clearance, another 2-3" would be nice. Maybe sometime next year.

LMAO at these drive by posts. Spend more money for the reward of spending even more on repairs.

So Honda just announces a CBR300 to meet the Ninja 300 head on. Wouldn't it be great if Kawasaki released the KLE500 to compete with Honda's new CB500X? :clap

It would be nice. But I fear Kawasaki don't want to make an ACTUAL dual purpose machine anymore, it's off OR on road.

If anyone knows where I can buy a decent quality sump guard then I would appreciate the info ;)
