I think this is the highiest amount of miles I've seen for an 08' Kudos my brotha!
6k on my 07. It shares duty with several others, but I figure at this rate it'll be getting good and broken in when I trade it for a Jazzy Power Chair.
I need to ride more
I have a 1990 KLR 650 with 86,000 miles on it.
I love the bike but do not own one for fear of engine pbs(oil buringi but ater reading this trhread I have a new attitude
The KLX is my next bike. I need to keep my old DR200 at my mom and dads to ride when I go there to help out.
2003 with 7620mi bought this summer with 3500. would have been twice as many miles but my VFR stole 5kmi from it. I'll have 13k on it by the middle of April after my TAT trip.
2008 with 4100 miles, I dont get out enough...
Hey, I beat somebody! My 08 has a hair over 7K.
My poor 2006 sat in some dudes garage for 2 years with only 178 miles on her. After picking it up in 2008 I've since but almost 13,000 on. Wohooo!
'08 with 36,000+ kms
2009 just under 5000 hard earn miles and it hasn't burned any oil. (Knock on wood) The only problems that I have had so for with the bike has been by my own fault had to replace plastic from a nasty crash and let me tell you its not cheap.
2006 with 40,000 miles. I bought it new in February of 2007. Its been an excellent bike!
2006 with around 21k. 20k of it in 2009
Thanks MotoBoss! That is really awesome!
My '98 has less than 7k on it. I purchased it used w/2.4k but, it should have more miles on it by now...
I hope that the bike and I last long enough to get those kind of miles!
If you're watching, I'd love more details....
2008 with 38,000 miles and zero problems. Stock doohickey also, take that all of you asshole militant doohickitistas.
I got my 87 KLR up to 89,000 miles before I traded her off...All she needed was chains and tires, may have changed spark plugs once
2008 with only 11,867 mi. Looking at some the miles you others have put on I better get off the 'puter and start riddin' !!!!
Pretty much the same story. I bought it with about 54K then just started riding. I try to ride as much and often as possible but the winter stuff has gotten to be a drag so I ride when the streets are clear.
The motor has been freshened with gaskets, piston and the doo several years ago. With just simple maintenance and quality oil these things run forever. I've been fortunate to not have any major mis-haps (accidents) but the old boy shows his age in character marks. I have all the usual farkels you'd expect but most are creature comfort things and I tend to stay with the modest parts that work well for me.
I believe in using quality parts with regular maintenance and the ride with reasonable expectations of the motorcycle. If I wanna trash something I've got dirt bikes for that. If I wanna go fast I have track bikes for that. If I wanna ride to work and play in the National Forrest on the way home I have got the KLR for that. The fun and joy I have gotten out of the KLR far exceeds the amount of any money ever put out.
