Remeber she ain't there 80% of the time. And if you don't buy the bike let us know, I have a buddy that wants one.
Looks good. Keep the photos comming....
Anybody try putting a bigger piston (like one from a vulcan nomad) in their R? I'm getting a spare engine for my R and I'm thinking about boring out the cylinder and getting it replated with Nikasil.
I put the Vulcan piston in my C engine. Worked out great.
I will tell you that I've ridden an R with fresh valves and the two bikes are about the same. The R might have felt a little quicker due to less weight. My take is that the higher compression on the R engine is a good thing. What I'm trying to say is you won't gain anything putting an overbore with lower compression into the R. If you were to do it anyhow, find a steel lined jug rather than attempting a replate.
but... would it be possible to just buy the C sleeve, bore out the R jug and slip in the C sleeve?
The steel sleeve is fused to the aluminum cylinder. You can simply swap jugs. They are fully interchangeable. Again, I don't see the point unless the R has had ring failure or some other problem requiring work.
Got the swing arm back, Hi gloss black powder coat. Also had some other parts coated as well. Upper and lower tree's, rear rack side plates and a bunch of mounts. The color is antique bronze metalic. I was shooting for the same color as the new klx250. This color is much darker and sparkles. I held it up close the the 250 and this color is much nicer. The service boys at my store were mighty impressed with the quality of paint. Its too bad my camera is a pos for close up stuff.
What rear rack is that on your KLX? I need one..........
C came with a stock rack. For your R you might want to try this:
Here are new pics of the bike. I received my last cam chain slipper blade today. I will put the motor in this weekend.
fresh hardware. Sweet italian aluminum. Rizoma fat bar adapters, red anodized cap nut and aluminum brake reservoir. Light and strong.
cant wait till spring! Asv billet clutch and perch. Anodize red. Pro taper bars. Sweet!
I cant find any cool mirrors that arn't for cruisers. The stock front brake caliper and disc are half decent. This radial pull master will spice things up. One finger stoppies anyone?
Ran out of propane. Only put turnsignals and fender on tonight.

cant wait for the 5 gal tank!
It's looking good Dave. I'd love to powdercoat my frame blue. The turquoise is a bit much.
Finished The motor this week. 102mm vn1500 piston, 4 new valves, camchains, idlersprocket, cam sprockets, clutch and waterpump seal. Put the motor in on thursday and worked the chasis stuff today. More bling to follow.
