Does anyone have a Knee Specialist, perhaps an orthopedic surgeon around Denver they recommend?

Feels like a torn meniscus but I haven't had scans yet.

I use a phenomenal surgeon in Steamboat Springs, Bryan Bomberg. But, my physical therapist highly recommends Panorama in Denver.

...... when racing motorcycles, and therefore falling off of them :huh, was a fairly common occurrence, I visited Woodridge Orthopedic Clinic several times. I was well taken care of. Admittedly, I wouldn't likely know anyone there these days. Woodridge is located immediately south of Lutheran Hospital in Wheatridge.

Best of luck, and a speedy recovery to you.

    +1 on Stedman/Hawkins Clinic. http://www.shcdenver.com/

They also have a secretive little outpatient surgery center 3 blocks East of I-25 on Bellevue. I had my torn meniscus scoped there and they did an amazing job. Rehab was part of the follow-up at their site on Belleview Ave.

This group does surgery/rehab for college and pro athletes. They're good, and most insurance groups will authorize them to do your work & rehab.

Not quite Denver area, but the doctors at Premier Bone and Joint are barely across the border in Laramie and Cheyenne. Dr. Jay Carson comes highly recommended by my wife and friends. He's a no-nonsense sort of doctor, who wastes little time, tells you up front what to expect, and then carries through.

Any orthopedist can scope out a knee and carve out the offending meniscus tear. Be careful though - I've had 2 minesectomies (4 total on both knees), and while my right knee is doing great... my left has no menicus left. This is mostly the result of injury, but aggressive removal doesn't help matters. There seems to be an orthopedic school of thought that is trending towards preserving the meniscus via injections, instead of removing this tissue that does not regenerate.

I've had experiences with 4 orthopedists (gotlieb, hunter, parks, hacket) in colorado and been happy with all of them. I gotta tell you though... I recently started seeing Dr. Hacket with Steadman Hawkins —*I really appreciate his conservative approach to surgery, and I would HIGHLY recommend him. It's nice to have a doc explain the surgical vs. non-surgical options and expected outcomes, and not just jump straight into scheduled surgery.

Best of luck resolving you knee issue.

+2. They rebuilt my AC joint after previous doc decided I was fine and didn't need surgery.

    +1 Stedmann Hawkins

    +10 for Bryan Bomberg

To be clear, I don't have any direct experience with the folks down at SH clinic ............... but I've got lots of friends that have had many positive experiences with them over the years.
( Although, I've got to question their motives a bit when I see an advertisement for them in a "in-flight" magazine?) :huh :lol3

I DO have direct experience with Dr. Bomberg. Among other things, he took care of me/ my broken leg this spring, and he did a sorta' complicated shoulder rebuild for me a few years back. I can't recommend him and his staff highly enough.

I have sat on a gurney in a "big city" pre-op looking around the around the room at 2 dozen other patients in the same situation! In those situations, it's easy for me to understand how someone goes in for an appendectomy, and ends up getting castrated! Well, you get the picture. :lol3 It's really nice because it's certainly not "production medicine" with Dr. Bomberg here in Steamboat. As of a few months ago Dr. Bombergs office has the only "open" MRI machine in town. It still has that "new MRI smell"! :D

You are very wise to ask around .......... there are orthos out there working daily that have crippled more people than polio!

    Good luck!

Another vote for Dr. Hackett. But surgery really doesn't work all that well with a torn meniscus. Injections and PT are much better, per the previous posters.

Torn meniscus is touchy. Sometimes it HAS to be scoped. Only the orthopedic doc can make that call. I went through 8 L knee surgeries, 10 years of injections and made my knee last 20 years before a full replacement last year. Steadman is good but I'm not sure he's the guy doing the cutting unless you're a big dollar high profile type. Bomberg has been my surgeon many times. I told him his kids are going to have the best education I can afford! :lol3.

Kareem Sobky in Denver is an excellent surgeon and a great guy. I've worked in the O.R. with him over 2 years and will attest to his skills. He's at Exempla St Joseph's. PM me if I can assist you further.

Dr Gottlob at Panorama. After two botched surgeries in two years I went to Doc Gottlob and he fixed me up right, plus he's now a mountain biking buddy. Still thinking about selling the 525 I haven't ridden in almost three years.

I had Steadman scope me last spring. Another vote for the Steadman clinic up in Vail.....yes, I know, I was based in Denver then too.....so if you go with Steadman, expect to stay in a hotel for at least 4-5 days post surgery. I can give you some beta if you go this way.....

Don't sweat it. I've had mine done and it wasn't bad. My wife had her knee scoped and she was feeling fine in 2 days and back to normal in 2 weeks.
