The possibilities are pretty limited at the moment. I've only found 4-5 options at date.

    120/70R-19 M/C 65Q, FRONT
    170/60R-17 M/C 72Q, REAR

    1. MICHELIN PILOT ROAD 4 TRAIL -Pretty much an on road only tire
    2. ANAKEE III - A 90/10 road biased tire
    3. METZELER TOURANCE NEXT- OE on the R1200GS
    4. METZELER KAROO 3 - Maybe a 60/40 tire?
    5. CONTINENTAL TRAIL ATTACK II - OE on the 1190
Are there any others out there?

The speed index for the 1190 tires is "W".
Some of these tires you refer to above are not available in "W" speed index, but only in "V"(tourance and pilot road 4 on "V" and karoo on "T" only)
So be carefull to look for the right speed index.

All of them are spendy presently. I like the karoo 3 rear and maybe a tkc80 front......when the time comes. my problem is I go through a couple of rears and usually 1 front a year.

    Agreed.
    Fronts are reasonable $$$
Rears seem stupid $$$- $225 or more to burn it off in 5k ouch.

i have them on, after 8000km reat tire is near the end and front can do the twice. They are a bit harder than the conti and have poor feedback but no bad surprise. they stick like the ct2 on rain or gravel but you never know if u can put more lean angle or not.

Thinking of trying my hand at using a tire groover on a Shinko 009 Raven. Saw it done once already and the report was the tire performed well. Of course would need to tone the speeds down but I just might dink with it to just see.

Well now....I will have to call and see if I can pre-order a set. Is the front tire any good or is it better to just go TKC80 front?

Let us know what you find out.

I should probably wait until my bike actually arrives before I buy anymore farkles!:eek1

I didn't like the 21" K60 Scout on the 800XC. Seemed a bit hard for good grip on pavement and not aggressive enough off. I will mostly go with the TKC. They just seem to cause a severe vacuum in the seat every time I entered a corner a bit to hot. Maybe the wider 120/70-19 will inspire confidence.

Reply I got from the company

    David -
Heidenau says we should have them soon.
I would think we should get our first shipment of the new sizes within a month or two.
    Thanks, Mark
