COnsidering just getting the TKC80 rear as its in stock. With that said Cont makes a 180 55 17 TKC80. I am thinking it should fit inplace of the 170. I am considering it because the 180 is a bias belted tire and the 170 is just a bias ply

    Thoughts?

I don't know how you could blow through that tire that quickly unless your using your twisting the throttle on & off road. I have almost 4,000 on mine w the 8GSA & still have plenty. Average is somewhere in the 10-12k park (see the Heindenau thread). I am not a big fan of the front at all though.

    Kag,
I guess you used a 180/55-17 rear, what size for the front?

In summer i want to replace my OEM conti trail attack's 2.
EVERY tire i checked except the conti's,is only available in "v" speed index and finally the only tire that matches in size and speed index is the OEM conti...
I wonder, can i use a 180/55 size tire with the existing rear wheel in order to have more available choices?
Is it probable to have any kind of malfunction with the speedo, traction control or abs with the size change?

I used a 180/55R17 Bridgestone R10 Race tyre on the rear of my std for a little while. I didn't have any issues with traction control or abs. They both worked as normal. The speed is measured from the front wheel.

Anyone know of a good set of extra interchangeble rims for offroad tires, pref in Europe? The original ones are dead expensive. The offroad ones will be used with tubes...

Now have about 500 miles on the TKC80's. Last question was answered yesterday when I rode it 50 miles in rain. The tires handled wet traction well. Now just see how long the 180 rear lasts.

No idea how they act on the 1190 but the RP tires I have read are really good touring tires, With that said, the OEM conti's are great touring tires and will be hard to beat. Neither of these no matter what you see are good for off road work other than very light gravel and hard pack trail.

A long wearing touring tire that I have run on another bike that continue to perform very well is the 009 Raven rear and the 005 Advantage front. Half the price point and imo a really good tire no matter the low cost. I took the OEM off and went TKC....these are hard to beat but I am burning through the rear. I thought I was going to get maybe 5k miles out of them but I think now its more like 3500. I know I will need to put a rear on during my 2500 mile ride I am leaving on later this week. I will put a Raven 009 on as I will be doing pure tarmac since I am riding with my wife and she does not like riding off road on her Triumph Tiger.

I plan to put a K60 on the rear when it comes out and Skive it.

Spoke with the dealer in Texas and said he was told yesterday that the K60 in the KTM 1190 sizes was in "EU" cert testing presently this time...who knows what really the deal is. But hopefully once that is complete they can do the paperwork to get them here. Almost broke down and ordered a K60 150 but in a brief moment of clarity I ordered another TKC80 180/55/17....hopefully by the time I am done with this new set the k60 will be available.

You burned that TKC80 off pretty quickly -- how many miles did you get out of it? You just did a long road trip, right? Did it just get squared off on the slab?

Actually I got about 3k....some life left, maybe 1k but spooned the OEM back on and it is getting worn out. Kind of hard on throttle but the COntinued TA is squared off hard
