Is there one already? One that has build info and what not? :ear

I am going to turn mine into a plated desert rider, or at least its what I hope to do. Sorry for so many dumb pictures. I am going to use this thread for some of my photo referencing.

I thought a "thumper" was a single cylinder engine? Does this exclude two strokes for some reason?

I just bought one and was doing some research on what people are doing to "Adventure-ize" them. The thumper talk forums are some of the worst out there. I like it here in ADVland.

Probably not much. Tranny limits you to about fifty mph without screwing up the gearing too bad. Great woods bike, better mx bike, shitty dualsport.

Lots of good tech info on ktmtalk.com

Thanks for the heads up. Pinger ~ Thumper... Whatever you care to call it... it's still two wheels in the dirt and goes like hell! :thumb

Thumper is definatley a four stroke term, a two stroke don't go thump, thump, thump. Maybe there needs to be a RingAding section. I've got a brand new ORANGE KTM hard parts ignition cover I will sell you for $45 shipped. Can send a pic. Looks like an adventure bike to me. :fyyff

Fantastic we have established that we know two-strokes aren't thumpers. However there isn't a two stroke forum, and they have most in common with thumpers, therefore they belong here. :D

Looking forward to see what you do with it. I've been thinking lately a two stroke would make a good other bike to a big thumper.

MSH - Glad to see you enjoying the SX:clap . I have a soft spot in my heart for two strokes and nothing is more fun when it comes to offroading in tight conditions.

So one has to wonder with the tight gearbox on the SX limiting your high speed fireroad prowling it will take awhile to use the fuel your new tank carries. Prey tell, where do you ride where you need that much mileage range of the new tank:ear ?? If you do my hats off to you and I want to read your RR's:nod .

    Best of luck.

Fortunately for me I live in Utah. High open Desert trails that can wind from SLC to Reno (Pony Express) still exist. The last thing you want is to be limited by range out here. Too much open country!

If they don't want us in "Thumpers" then how about a new "Two Stroke" sub forum? We would probably surpass the thread count of "Trials" in a few months. I recently bought a 300 EXC and working to get it plated for all day dirt adventures without need for trailer or truck.

After all two strokes are making a comeback and just wait until the next generation of direct injection comes out. It'll be like 1970 all over again.

Now everybody...have you heard...ADVrider has a new forum and "The Stroke" is the word....

    I like it MSH
How do we start a petition to get this?
I think this would be a good addition to ADVrider and get plenty of traffic after people know the forum is here. Overseas many 2 strokes are still street legal from the dealer and plenty of people here in the US convert them after purchase.
