Fits good enough for me. I bought MXC tank used, and it came with the seat to match, but it was for the older bikes with the wrong mounts, so I'm using the stock EXC seat. Little gap, little problem. Protects the rads too.

I've got one for you. It's the older one, also. It, too, came with the seat, which is useless on the 05+ bikes. $40?

Would the seat and tank fit an 04 EXC? If Razr doesn't want it, I'll take it!

as of now im shopping for a 450 / 525..
It appears the 450s are much more popular than the 525. If i can find a 450 in decent condition, it isn't too expensive to get it to a 525/540 is it?

i was sort of set on a 525, as i do like long stroke low end thumping power instead of aggressive peaky motors, the 450 has the same stroke as the 525 so they would rev at the same RPM at certain speeds?
    I could be wrong

:D I had that pic saved on my computer already, didn't realize it was yours. A pic with the black tank would be cool too.

I'll take it if you think it'll fit on my 2004 EXC?

or if there would be little fiddling with it.:dunno

The tank will be fine, but the seat may not fit. The seat I got with my MXC tank had the two aluminum tabs, whereas the '07 EXC seat I am using with the tank has the single bolt from the bottom, but there is the small gap, which I don't care enough about. See my picture above. That is the gap people are fussing about. You should be fine, and at $40, I'd grab the tank.

Question on steering dampener. On my 07, it looks like there is no room (flat spot) for the dampener mount on the frame. The weld goes all the way up to the metal seal below the triple clamp. I just installed a damper on my friend Deb's bike, she has an 03, and there was tons of room on her frame for the mount.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

Also, anyone know where I can get a headlight guard? Can't find any for sale that fit. Got one from baja designs, it's too big.

I have a sub-mount with a Scotts damper, and a clamp on post. You can probably get one directly from Scotts (assuming that is the damper you have). Works great. There is a post for sale in the FM, but it is from an '08-'11. He has the measurements listed for head tube diameter, or you could call Scotts and see if they are the same.

Headlight guard? What headlight are you trying to protect? The stock candle of aftermarket? I wouldn't worry about protecting the stock light. Save the money and put it towards a TrailTech X2 or something else should you break yours.

It'll fit. I'll send you a PM and we'll work out the details. I'm sure I've got a pic with the tank on my '07 525

Once you know it is all so obvious but before you know it is confounding.

Okay my '08 250xcfw forks look just like in Haynes and on YouTube. I can work on them :nod

    But...

My 2007 525 xcw has a new to me fork cap :dunno. It is perfectly round (no 48mm or 50mm) with a 24mm hex in the center that has a "Setting Knob + Screw" in the center of it. No holes for a peg spanner.

I've looked at the fiche and think I know but why break something if I can ask a bunch of FF's who are more experience in these matters than I? :bow

Question: Loosen the cap with the 24mm hex on the cap?

:dohs this qualify me for Dumb Question O' The Week ?

Picking up my 2006 525exc this afternoon.
It has 170 hours on it and 6800kms.

The guy has receipts for a full top & bottom rebuild at 2500km due to some issue, so hope that doesnt happen again.

    Thank you.

It's the stainless steel bolts that make it look so nice. :rofl
