thanks for the data point. 200 mile range is perfect.
"new" i can find the 6.6 for $300, the safari is $475? hoping to find a used one this winter.

i really liked the safari on my wr250r. but, i'm not paying near $500 for a tank i'll use a couple times a year.

I put in an order about 10 months ago for the 4ga safari. Supposedly it's coming in this week...we'll see.
I just couldn't fathem the idea of hauling around the 6.6ga tanker.

    bump ttt

just fit my safari. looks nice. fits like a glove. the orange isn't quite the same. whatever, it'll be covered in mud soon

it's slim enough it might make my 3 gal clarke redundant. i can still use the stocker for dirt stuff.

i put a little gas in it to make sure it wasn't leaking. i'm going to try to get out next week for a little loop, i'll fill up and measure it then. it looks like there will be some unusable fuel due to the lower front wings.

safari filled, i got 4.2 gallons filled to the brim. i was hoping for closer to 4.5, maybe it'll "break in" and sag a bit when hot.

the .2 looks possibly unusable, locked up in the front wings.

I'd just look at it like a "double reserve", if it would save a few miles of walking, I would find a way to get it to the petcock.

If you desperately need the extra ..3 gallons mount the tank on the bike with it drained, turn petcock off, boil a huge 4 gallon pot of water, pour it in the tank, have a second 4 gallon pot boiling, let the watersit 15 minutes to soften up the plastic of the tank. Then drain the water and fill up the tank with the second pot of water. Have the fuel cap and fuel vent tube with a shraeder valve installed, Put the gas cap on and SLOWLY put about 2 pounds of air pressure into the tank, monitor the sides closely and you'll see the tank slowly expand. You may need another pound or so but go slowly as you don't want to rush the expansion. Its not the prettiest way but it does add some capacity to the tank. Don't do it on old tank as the plastic tank will have become brittle over time (ask me how I know:lol3), just new or pretty new tanks.
