The '05 and up also got an additional oil jet that squirts at the underside of the piston.

Not sure sorry, it was just something I remember reading in the brochure. The pre 04 clutch is quite a beefy unit anyway, mine has taken a lot of abuse & was still in perfect condition at 100 000km. I haven't heard of many other people having clutch issues with 640's before or after 04 apart from some leaky master cylinders & worn slave cylinders on higher miles bikes.

    Cheers
    Clint

Hi, mate has just bought a 07 adv, in his wisdom he decided to pull bike down and give a good clean and fix oil leaks.
Now the problems start, there is no power to any of the instruments. Bike will not start due to waiting for sealant to harden on rocker cover.
Battery has 12.3 V, it seems to be an earth related problem.
We have cleaned earth which attaches to frame from the battery.
Is there any other earths around wiring loom.
We have used wire from fan to earth on battery and existing positive wire and the fan works.(example)
I haven't been able to find thread on this type of problem, any help appreciated.
    Cheers
    :cry

Yes, there's one on the right under the side cover that screws onto the frame, it's a brown wire if I remember correctly, sorry not at home to send you a pic

Here's a couple of pics of my 640 adv.

Its got 1.5" bar risers, UFO rear end and LED tail light, 625 SMC pegs, KTM competition exhaust and EPC removed.

It also has a second outfit for weekend fun including 450 SMR forks / caliper / wheels, beringer m/c and cast disc, 625 SMC shock and tank/seat/rad panels.

Hey, 5am... as we can see, you have reached the perfect balance between your two wide opposite preferences... good for you!
And to see how low can our bikes take the bend on asphalt ... that set up is magic! While commuting, more than once I would loved to have that grip to let my jaws relaxe.... :lol3
    Good job. :clap

    Sure is mate. Well spotted.

Going down into hawes was 'fun':evil. I've only done it on the 250 before, going down on the loaded adventure was a different kettle of fish

eizrah : I bought my 640 from a German guy. Along with the manuals he gave me a catalogue from a shop called Polo.

    http://www.polo-motorrad.de/en/

Seem like they have a huge range of bike gear, not KTM specific though.

    EDIT: linky fixed....
