KTM 640 Adventure R Carbon Fiber / Kevlar Tank Guards

I have been looking for a set for some time and just found out Rally Raid is in the process of producing some for the market. I have already sent an email and this was their response.

    Hi Jason,

We are currently developing the 640 Adventure Tank Guards, we should be finished in around 3 to 4 weeks from now.

I'll send you an email with some pictures and prices when they are ready.

    Cheers,
    Michael

I sent Rally Raid an email telling them I was interested in a pair of the tank guards 3 weeks ago and they told me then it would be about 3 weeks. Looks like we have another 3 weeks to wait????

Sure hope they get these built!!

    Cheers

Interesting. They look like maybe a little bit of overkill coverage wise, but that being said, i'm pretty sure i scraped up the back part of my tank with my boots the last time i went over the bars. Checked in with Chris Barnes about this time last year and he indicated he was on hiatus. This might be my next best option, depending on the price point. Or i can continue my apparent effort to customize my paint job using rocks and bushes. :evil

    keep us posted, tx!

I remember someone was selling their molds for the tank guards, a little over 2 yrs ago. I was going to buy them, but opted out. I know Renazco was talking about getting them, has anyone checked in with him?? Or maybe my mention will jog someone else's memory?!

I'll post up some pics tomorrow....

This past weekend I picked up a 2006 640A. Took it for a test ride, liked it. Brought it home and rode around town for a little bit. Love it.

The miles are high, but the price was right and it is unbelievably clean. Never seen a dirtbike so clean in my life.

    Any chance they'll fit a 98 640a?

    Barnyard,

Congrats on the new bike. I had an '01 640e that I sold this past spring and picked up an '07 640A, they're great bikes.

    Thanks.

I am finding that every time I go by the garage door (attached garage), I am opening the door to take a look. Even with a Ulysses and 200xcw parked out there, it still looks ridiculously tall. Which makes it pretty close to 'just right.'

Congrats. They're great bikes, I've got an older 640 E, love it as an adventure bike, it often gets the nod over my newer faster ktm 950.
And there's a good crowd of people in this thread and the other ktm 640 threads, lots of knowledge around here.

    I make bikes look small.

1st ride around the neighborhood was awesome.

I still cannot believe that there are 50k miles on the odo.

Dude put that many miles on the stock seat.

I am pretty darn excited for the roads to thaw and and all that.

    Yep.

Going to do them again at the end of the season, probably do piston, rings, new valves and all that.
