What is your source for that hardware, especially those spring loaded things?

Is the 690 like the newer version of the 640 Adventure? What's the difference between the 690 R & the enduro-or are these one in the same? I'm looking for a dual sport that I can explore, camp, and do some challenging dirt riding. I've got a 1200 GSA & would like something smaller -is the 690 the dual sport I'm looking for-or is it the 640?

The spring loaded things i got from a local boat shop. They are stainless steel.
    They were $20 AUS each.
4WD accessory places can probably get them in as well.
The rubber bumpers came from a clarke rubber store (australia).
They had a great assortment of premolded rubber things.
These needed replacing after a 6000km trip and need to be tougher.

I got the 6mm aluminium plate cut square from a local metal fabricator shop.
I then did the markout and gave it to him for cutting/slotting and bending to my marks.
He made the stainless brackets with the slots as well.
The countersink bolts came from a bolt shop or hardware store.
These holes i then marked, drilled drilled and countersunk.
I then paid $30 to have it powdercoated.

    The racks are wolfman.

Man, just when I think I have talked myself out of a 690, I see a thread like this. It is the only bike that makes me giddy about it. I think I should just accept the fact that I will have to get one.

Thanks and keep on with the great pics!

Do you have about a year to waste. It's not all problems but you will find anything that's ever happened to one of these. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=137643

    It;s an ENDURISTAN.

    I purchased it in Australia.

    I believe it's made by a Scandinavian company/person.

I've had it since MAY 2010 and have use it for a 6000km trip, a 800km trip, a 900km trip, as well as many other 3-500km 'filler' Saturday trips, to a total of 17000km so far (27 oc 2010)

I can say that it is quite sturdy and i havn't had a problem with it's construction so far.

On trips, i carry up to 2 * 1.5 ltr water bottles, basic tools, torch, lens cleaner, rag, spare cable ties, chocolate, power outlets * 4 for iphone etc.
    etc etc.

On long trips, you can lie on it, without it collapsing, and have a bit of an 'eyes open' snooze rest.

If there is anything to gripe about, it would be the 'tightness' of the side pocket zips.
These is use for storage of matches. lighters * 2 or even 3, condoms * 10, tyre pressure guage etc.

    They're tight for a reason.
    The zippers that is.

The zip enclosure seems to keep most moisture out very well.
    Including rain droplets..
