I'm familiar with that little offset in the pipe, booger!
Looks good mate
Nice fab job Crankshaft! So, how many disks are you running in the Supertrapp?
I had a buddy do the fab work, so I can't take credit, but the idea was mine
Its running 10 discs and the sound is perfect. Quiet at idle and has a nice thumper rumble when you crack it open. When I first rode it with the new muffler, it felt slower until a realized the power was way more linear with better grunt off the bottom. Its also a lot lighter and way cooler.
I ordered the FMF Q4 today. Say it should ship on the 12th.
advertised with a turbine spark arester ( not really sure what they called it) and that it will not need replacing. They said the power Core 4 spark arrestor is a screen that you would need to replace after burnouts.
Tech said it was 96db. They had no ship date on the Ti one so I just went for what they had. Hopefully it will be cooler, i just keep melting stuff (including my forearms when I wrestle the bike up) on the stock exhaust.
Just installed a LeoVince muffler on my 690Enduro. Pics on this thread:
How loud it is ???
How can I really tell you? I think it is fucking loud! How many DB's? Who knows!
Anyone know if you can get the Akra slip-on separate from the full system? Might be cheaper, and get rid of the cat w/ associated heat problems at the same time.
Yes it's available, call Scuderia West in S.F. as I believe they have one coming in with no name on it yet.
Anything aftermarket is going to be significantly louder then stock, the stock catalytic is a huge filter for sound.
There were a couple of guys in the orange crush that were taking cats out of the LC8 exhausts with good results, the key there was working with someone who can plasma cut the end cap to remove the cat and weld stainless.
Thanks for the response.
I guess I am just a wimp. I have always left the stock Exhaust on my BMW's because they are quiet.
I haven't had any machine shop work done since I gave up my Olympic dreams in sailing. Back then there was a guy whose primary business was aircraft that did my work for me. I just need to find find someone locally that can do this type work. My antiquated cutting torch, crackerbox welder and skills are lacking.
Stuff the pipe I WANT THAT SEAT!!!!!
Is it comfy?
Would it be good on the SMC for 500 kilometres?
I've been meaning to post a video of my Exhaust sound, so here is a video shot by Mountain man at the start of a stage this weekend. Please forgive the crappy riding

This has a baffle you can remove but I have left it in because it is still loud and it pulls better. I have finally had the dealer load the new map that comes with the Akro and it fuels better but not much difference in the the seat of the pants take off.
This week end I put on my new Leo muffler. It was over 5 pounds lighter (bathroom scale) than stock. It is a bit louder than I'd prefer but not horrible. The bike runs great. I tried the 15 min Idle a couple of times but the bike stalls at about 50 seconds into the process. Does any one know if an imediate resart allows the system to continue it's calibration?
Loren, I would do as boejangles recommends and put your name in the hat at Scuderia. The Akras will undoubtedly sell out fast, even at their lofty price point. Here's a close-up of the Akra slip-on; it is mounted on the stock header. There are no mounting issues; it goes right on. Akra includes a spring and clamp that the stock setup does not have.
The Akra is not extremely loud, particularly at low throttle, but I wish it was quieter. It has a nice, throaty sound at idle as compared with the 'sewing machine' sound of the stock unit. The Akra has the USFS-Spark Arrestor markings; that's an added plus for those of us that frequent forest service roads. As with all Akra products, the fit and finish are exceptional. The carbon end cap is a nice touch.
This is not a real good pic of the Akra, but you can also see the retro-fitted Euro rear fender dropdown and LED tail light. I had both parts shipped from a European KTM dealer.
I also ordered the Akra/KTM Hard Parts carbon header guards and mounted them on the stock header:
Nice lookin rig , woodsrider!
Hey guys, I've become a dealer for Leo Vince so if you guys want to do a group buy I'm willing to help you out and get some deals on some pipes.
The Leo Vince comes with 4 different DB inserts and spark arrestor option, pipes are only being made in the SBK version so you will not see any X3 version pipes unless KTM decides to race this bike.
I had a couple of questions. Fist on Leo Vince, I already purchased on direct from Leo but the spark arrester I got isn't stamped USFS approved and I was wondering if they have a version that sports this stamp?
Second, what is the wait for a seat for my 690E?
