just got this baby 2 months ago. Since then we've been on a few adventures to Hungry Valley and of course the LA Barstow Vegas rally last weekend.

She's pretty well kitted out but will add a new windscreen since I nearly chopped my head off in the whoops last weekend - thinking the Rally Raid might do it - a bit disappointed in the finish though. Any other suggestions out there?

What is the Screen on the bike and dose it work better than the stock screen :huh
I have tried the standard and the KTM Touring screen as well as the Double screen mod and had no joy with them .
I use the standard screen but on long trips it would be nice to have the wind moved away from me a bit more .:clap

I don't know about that one in particular since it is transparent but I know Rally Raid was making some like that. KTM Twins had them.

Our 2007 990adv S is getting too ugly for the glamour shots,
    but she still kicks ass!

BigWan and I just did the LA-Barstow to Vegas ride, and it was awesome.

400 miles of offroad riding over 2 days. Lots of sand and rocks.
We did the hard ways - many of the notes on the roll chart said "Not recommended for Adventure Bikes"
but we figured they were talking to the BMWs. :evil

The 9x0 is just a big dirt bike, right? :dunno

There was a guy who had come over from Australia to do the ride.
He said they have the 1190 in Oz, but it's just not the same as the 990.
The 1190 is not quite up to the task.

So, here's a little video of us riding the hard ways, 2up...

On the best bike in the world.
    Long live the 990/950 adventure!
    :freaky

Our riding partner (the organizers want everyone to have a "buddy") is on a 950adv S.
We met him just that day and he was great (Wendell from BC).

In case you are wondering, we turned around after waiting 30 minutes in the snowy rocks.
There were so many guys piled up, it was going to be a long wait.
After the logjam you see in the video, there were 2 more bottlenecks further up.
    Oh well.
Too many guys on little dirt bikes, not enough 990s, I guess.

    Yea for WANS!

Good job! Many of my buddies did that ride. Too many people for me. Those rocky sections that everyone was stopping on the trail would have sent my temper through roof. They're not that tough.

I think i know what 100 mph through the desert on a big dirt bike feels like now. So you see how fast you guys are now don't you? flyin by those thumpers.

Your videos make me realize I use 5% of what the bike is capable of. :cry And that is on a good day. :deal

I would give anything to be in the heads of the guys on the small dirt bikes as you fly past them. You know their feeling good that their ripping it down the trail just to get smoked by a 990 2-up. :clap

The guys being passed look like they are out for an easy day on the trail. Some riders just like to cruise.

heh, what makes you think we weren't cruising?
That is cruising speed on a 990...
(you do realize you're in Orange Crush, right?)

we were just having a nice day ride, too.
a sitting-down, riding double, trail ride on a big bike...

    :ricky

hell, Matt didn't even stand up once on this ride. :deal

    :lol3

    edit:
    MKJ -
